How many updates have there been? I have been without wireless internet since I bought PlayTV so am operating with the immensely frustrating out-of-the-box software.

I currently bloody hate the thing so can you enlighten me as to whether the following issues have been resolved;
i) No manual record. An absloutely absurd omission, I don't know why the only record option is to pick something off the EPG and then record it in its entirety (especially considering the ridiculous file sizes each recording carries). It counters the purpose of being able to record programmes when you aren't in to see them in real time. The biggest issue being with BBC, who when they are not running programmes 10 minutes late, decide to take a scattergun approach to scheduling and start programmes at times that do not conform to the sensible 1.00-1.30 format. This means that should my desired programme start, it usually cuts right into another recording, which then presents me with the erroneous option of having to choose which to record and which to discard!
The worst I have found is for MOTD2. I just want to record the first half hour, I don't want to record the "comedy" segments that follow and the other **** features like when Kevin Day follows a relegation threatened club on the road, usually joining a deluded old fan that harks back to the good ol' days where "Archie Sidebottom played with a broken spine and was the finest inside right the land has ever seen". **** just let me record to halfway through!

ii) Jumpy recordings. Seemingly a lucky dip here, doesn't matter whether you're playing a game simultenously or just leaving it on partial standby to record, some recordings are rendered useless by regular jumping and freezing. This becomes particularly annoying when it happens half way through a film. Having spent £50 for PlayTV I don't want to be having to torrent search a film just to see the part that this device should have recorded!

iii) Having to go off the TV view to look at the library. Completely interruptive, why does it not just pop up like the EPG does so I can continue watching?

Your comment sounds promising, but I would be more interested if it was a mammoth update.

Been looking for this for cheap, thanks, nice find. Heat added.

"You will be able to get the software update on PS Store at a reasonble price."

No thanks.

Good deal by the way.

Love Play TV. The interface is excellent (occasionally buggy but quick and clearly set out), and it does a fantastic job of upgrading standard definition picture quality on an LCD.
With a bit of mucking about (formatted a portable hard drive and put Media Player Classic on my notebook) I now can take huge amounts of recorded shows and films with me when working away.

I think Dodoegg has something faulty, I don't recognise his playback problems at all.

Yeah well you know what thought did.

How often do you use yours to record? I record a lot so obviously any faults of PlayTv occur regularly and become a big issue. If you're just a casual user then maybe you don't notice it so much.

I go through the week ahead on the planner (main channels) and set recordings for the week ahead .It will be better when series link is available - I wish I had every episode of Deadliest Warrior.

I do this every week or 10 days. I've more than filled a 320 Gig hard drive. No problems so far.

Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't seen some of those replies on the PSBlog. A lot of people, including myself, have now questioned whether Series Link is going to be a standard or 'premium' service.

In my opinion, it is a standard PVR feature, that should have been enabled from the start. The PlayTV support team have been promising that they were working on it from as far back as June 2009. To then turn around and charge for it would be taking the mickey, as far as I am concerned.

I just hope that they will split the update in two - standard features improved for free, social aspects added for those that want them, at a price. I, for one, have no interest in sharing my viewing habits with the world, or chatting with random people whilst watching Holby City.....oO

Surprised these are still kicking about there was a huge branch recall for these things months ago! Simply couldn't sell them

Make that "for two". What a pointless addition all of those social features will be. Seeing as though series link might not even be free, a lot of people will be transmitting that they are recording a "timed recording" with no event information. Wow that'll be interesting.

Can anybody answer me this, I have a 1TB external HDD, I formatted it to fat32 and the PS3 recognises it, but says only 400GB is available. Does it have a limit to what it can read? Would I have to create a separate partition?

Still a few left there if anyone still wants one!

JPS - Any chance of you picking one up and posting it out if I PayPal you the money? None in my local stores and I am fancying using this to do away with Sky+.

All gone now. Just went in. There was one on the shelf, box falling apart and security seal broken. Took it to counter to ask if there were any more, computer said there was 3 available, some other manager dude came along and said that the ones on the shelves are all the ones they have.

Expired :)
