new update availiable for this...something about chatting on facebook while you watch tv?
#2
Apparently you have to pay for that update?

Isn't the HD version out soon though? Surely that's worth waiting for.
#3
really? well thats rubbish..no one will buy it especially if there is a hd one comming out
#4
Personally I would wait till it comes back in somewhere at £20 and as has been said a HD version is rumoured very soon. Saying that you get iPlayer and that all built in now on the PS3.

The update let's you "recommend" programmes on facebook, and chat within the PlayTV software, it's not chatting on facebook. The PlayTV rooms are usually empty.
Also let's you series link, something the original package was lacking.

With ITV Player and 4OD now joining the Playstation TV section, you've got most of terrestrial TV on demand covered.
And if you've got Sky - surely you've got Sky + ?

This is archaic now.

Where have you heard of this HD version coming out soon?? link?? source??

HD version rumoured for a long time

Also might be useful for people to know you can use this as a TV card for a PC.
You'll still need access to an aerial though, so not great for laptops. (_;)

yeh everytime this Play TV thing has been posted every other week for the past year and a half, someone always says the next one is coming out soon. I see no evidence of a rumour.

Even if play tv 2 does come out there's only like 5 channels in full hd anyway, the main 5 lol

even Amazon themselves have listed the item:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0046EBTYM/ref=nosim/?tag=hotukdeals-21

would be great if it can record the HD channels and export them to USB drives etc, but probaly need to split the files as I can imagine HD video taking lots more space making the 4GB FAT32 limit easily reached. But Sony may not even allow you to do it, HDCP the HD contents, argh!

im confused !?! what is this?!?! Is this a app to let you watch tv via your ps3 ?? or what
#14
Its a bit of hardware (and software) that lets you watch, record and playback TV etc on your PS3.

an app and a tuner box so that you can play, pause, record tv on your ps3
#17
@STi_prodrive: This is a box is effectively a dual tv tuner; it connects to a ps3 to allow viewing of freeview channels; more importantly it turns the ps3 into a digital recorder. One is able to watch one channel or play games while recording another or channel. An aerial is needed to connect to the box.

There is absolutely no news about an HD playtv device for ps3 so this is a good deal IMHO.

your first statement is fair enough, even if you dont have sky + you will get most popular programs available on demand now...
but the quality isnt as good and it is only a limited selection of programs so your last statement is ridiculous!

Was £20 pre-owned in game not that long ago, this is quite good if you dont have sky+
#22
This was already on here. It's cause version 2.0 with HD is imminent. and that requires new hardware, so this can't be updated to the new software.

The UI is fantastic and you can't rely on the catchup fully yet.

Oh, don't get me wrong - as a PVR - yes, this is a cracking bit of kit - I just think that the way technology is going and the current options available, if you just want a quick catch up on Peep Show/Corrie/Eastenders - then the PS3 already has this built in (albeit at a lower grade).

And as for Channel 5, well nobody watches it anyway, right?
