Whats the RRP on the 160GB?
#2
From what I can see just doing a quick search, there's no standalone rrp for the 160gb as it looks as though it's being sold as a package only (bet that'll change later in the year though).
#3
This is an old deal.

You see I'm thinking this is £42 more than the 80GB which seems good to me as pretty much the same deal is currently in the top 5 hottest - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/316591/playstation-3-80gb-megadeal-299-any

only probs is the games...FIFA is the only decent one and Little Big Planet you can buy cheap at the mo (just like the 3 I got for £5.99 each lol)
#5
Most companies now are selling the ps3 80gb retail with like one game for £290 Now this comes with 3 titles the new dual shock 3 controller and 4 downloadable titles, which are things like gran turismo and warhawk, which lets says tenner each. It's a very good price.
#6
~ 8 pounds quidco

not bad

cex/bay the 3 games and you get 35 - 50 back

so about 280 for the ps3 ltd 160 with 4 downloadable games and ds3

no bad

either this one or the hmv deal

hmm

I've given some heat. Good value for money.

Where is the cheapest place to get Little Big Planet? Best I've seen is £18 delivered at thegamecollection.

Of course, some may say that the Xbox 360 is a better bet anyway....:whistling::whistling:

If you use the 10% student discount at the googlecheckout that seems to be the cheapest.

I have both in the house, my bro's have the xbox and wii, I have a wii and an ps3.

PS3's just better to run, doesn't cost you half the money of the xbox upgrades for wirless, or blue ray along with hd.

Though I am currently thinking about selling my wii to purchase the xbox based on a lot of mates going for the cheaper xbox to play games like call of duty on without any of the upgrades mentioned so basically standard 360's. Apart from that the only reason I'd personally touch and xbox is hd player. Unless someone knows away of playing hd dvds on a ps3. External drive maybe, P/M me;-)

Old deal from before Christmas. The 4 downloadable games are OK only - not brilliant.
GT 5 Prologue is a proper game and certainly worth £10; Ratchet and Clank is also prety good. The other 2 games are basically small download games - 1 is like Asteriods but with pretty graphics and the other is similar to lemmings but with a top down look and OK as a diversion but not worth more than a fiver.
Warhawk isnt available on the current packs.

Warhawk got removed?
It's a cracking game too, still haven't bought it

Does anyone know the game which replaced Warhawk? That way I can amend the downloadable games.

Yes they can, so you can sell them or give them away.

I got this package about a month back for £307(10% staff discount(mother)), i sold Fifa and Smackdown for £45 combined on play.com so worked out great for me.

might be a silly question but, I mean are they sort of like '1 use vouchers'.....has anyone tried to use the vouchers again?....cus what if u had to re-format the hdd at a later date?

only asking cus I already have a ps3 and wondering if anyone would like to share their vouchers to see if they can be used more then once :whistling:
#21
The vouchers are used once only and it is linked to your PSN account. You can easily format if you want and still own the games.
#22
its only one voucher for all the 4 games, so you can either sell / give all them games away or keep all them games, its not one voucher per game.

You can download them 5 times to one PSN account. Of course, if you set up a random account like "jamesfgjhfdh" and allow your mates to access it (delete billing details), all of you can download the game for 1 price (doesn't work with all games)

Why would you pay over £100 Extra for 80gb more space when you buy a seperate larger hard drive and add to your ps3 80GB model and save money? im confused as to why this deal is hot?!

Does this console play ps2 game like the original 'proper' ps3? if not this is a waste of money,

Buy an 80gb model sell the 80gb hard drive, buy a 500gb hard drive and stick that in. job done......
#25
It's because you get the games and a dual shock controller.
#26
Bit of a random question - but I got an 80gb PS3 for christmas - I'm not very up together with technology ,so what else can i do with the Hard Drive space on my PS3 other than store music, photo's etc ?? any advice greatly appreciated.
#27
It's all about movies really, that's where the PS3 excels...but i'm pretty sure we can't get into that here!

If you can stream media from your PC to PS3 then you don't really need a massive HDD in there.

Game downloads from the PSN store, game saves, that's where most people will use up HDD space.

Play.com - RAC and Quidco off of it and it's pretty darn cheap. I got mine for £14.50 from a PlayTrade seller (plus Quidco!).

PS3's just better to run, doesn't cost you half the money of the xbox upgrades for wirless, or blue ray along with hd.

It has HD as standard (and comes with a HD cable which the PS3 doesn't). 360 doesn't force you to buy the wireless and so costs a lot more than the 360. You're also not forced into buying a Blu-ray or HD DVD drive, it's an option - that's a good thing.
#29
Yeah, but in this day and age and considering where technology is going, you can't play Blu-rays on an Xbox now can you...

For purely games, Xbox is better, no question, but as soon as you bring other media into the equation i'm afraid it swings the other way.

Plus the PS3 doesn't sound like an aircraft taking off!
#30
axum thanks for the reply - whats the score with the movies then? you can PM me if it's sensitive?!
#31
PM away if you want...
#32
why everyone keeps banging about the dual shock controller 3 with the 160gb version, i am pretty sure that the 80gb version comes with the same controller, does the 160gb version comes with two controllers or what???
#33
I got good 80GB bundle yesterday, £305 in HMV for:

80GB with dual shock controller
Grand Theft Auto IV
Buzz Quiz TV Special Edition (inc. buzzers)
Sony Blu Ray Remote
Sony HDMI cable
Hell Boy on blu ray

not sure why i'd need ot pay so much more for 160gb HD?
#34
The extra HDD space is probably worth about £20-25, the 4 downloadable games must be worth at least £40, would be much better if you could get other games with it, but still, seems like a good deal.

For all those that say it's easily upgradeable, yes, of course it is, but there would be a LARGE percentage of people that would NEVER attempt such a thing.

xbox60 dont play blu-ray though:cry:
#36
I love it when people say the ps3 is worth the extra couple of hundred pounds over an xbox360 becausce it can play BluRay but really who cares?? i mean why pay out for an expensive bluray movie when the 360 can play mkv files which are high def rips for free??

Standalone bluray players are hitting the £100 mark now, they cost less to run and aren't the size of a bread bin (ps3) so why not buya 360 and a standalone bluray palyer or just stream mkv's to xbox 360...
#37
Now I know some ps3's aren't backward compatible... but... is this? (or are any other's) because I'm loathed to buy one at the moment in the knowlegde I've got a dozen or so games on my ps2... help :) (good deal though)

No unfortunately they are not backwards compatible. This 'deal' has been on for a while its warm but not hot. Both the 80GB and the 160GB come with 1 dual shock 3 control pad.

Saw it in PCW earlier today... wish Sony would reintroduce backward compatibility :?
