box damaged needs mentioning
#2
Yeah i thought it was common knowledge. I'll add later. Defo not cold though. Some great deals!
#3
"we're almost giving it away"

That has to be one of the worst company slogans I've ever seen!

Is it run by 12 year olds?!

Sorry but my confidence in the 'company' is -5000% based on that.
#4
Lol i must admit it does sound tacky. But they have many satisfied customers. Just look them up on here. As a deal stands there are none better at the moment.
#5
I got one from these guys ages ago. Turned up and it was brand new, cost me under £200, top bombing, couldn't be happier.

helpful thankyou...most people know this already...you try even get a second hand PS3 under 200...then look at this deal, a prcatically new (if not new because others have recieved new ones) PS3 for under 200. enough said, lol

Customer returns = second hand, do you know how old these are?, they could be close to the yellow light of death.-

you are a very sceptical person my friend...

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/357816/80gb-ps3-224-99-buy-it-here/

if they were "second hand" dodgy returns they would not be able to advertise as they do...your scaring people off a deal with pure speculation when you have never even used them, or know who they are by the sounds of things...a deal is a deal...why not investigate the company rather then ps3 issues that are generic, yellow light of death can happen to any ps3 how ridiculous lol

No one said they were "dodgy" I am just pointing out about the PS3 YLOD seems to be connected with the age of PS3s and that a lot of people don't know about as this sort of error ,it seems in some peoples minds as being exclusive to the 360. As for scaring off people have you not seen all the RROD on the newest 360 Jasper posts? even though it's a thing of the past they bring it up all the time..

lol that quite cleary wasnt your point, you were suggesting these would YLOD because they might be seond hand, but what I am saying is yes any ps3 my have that as a possibility but I assure you from lookin at several hundred posts these are virtually if not always within a month old i.e. a customer buys one it has a bump in transit they decide they dont want it and send back....read up on it, RROD's are nearly a certainty with 360's especially old ones, thats why MS repair for free as its there fault, but YLOD is rare in comparrison so its hardly an issue worth raising.

Without even bothering with the rest of your answer as I said -
"they could be close to the yellow light of death"

Since when has COULD become WOULD?.

lol lots of things COULD happen...I am greatful for the info...as im sure we all are...just a little bored of people spoiling deals with no justification, these are as likely as any ps3 to YLOD, but baring in mind this deal cost less then a XBOX elite, but you get blu-ray and all the other things ps3 has over 360, it seems like its hot, or do you go to every 360 thead and warn of RROD? :)
#13
I bought the 80gb from buyithere a couple of months back it arrived within a week brand new with no box damage. 224.99 was a great price for gaming and blu ray and Internet on my telly.

You seem to be under the illusion that the failure rate for PS3's is comparable with that of the 360, it isnt, not by a long long way.

The failure rate for PS3's is well within industry standard and estimated at less than 1%.... quite a way from the 30% talked about in relation to the 360.

fair point, but with these at least your getting it from a retailer and have the chance for refund/ warranty etc...I never claimed it was a steaming deal, but it is good and with th 80gb model under 225 and other things like psp and guitar hero, I think its hot.

You're just being facetious. It's blitheringly obvious what you were implying, next time you say something stupid don't make a pratt of yourself by trying to argue on technicalities.

Voted Hot.

I remember "chelskii" is/was a well known 360 fanboy, along with a few others, used to always troll on PS3 deals/threads, much more toned down now, probably received warnings from mods, but hey, any chance to knock the PS3, RROD = YLOD LOL, no where near the same failure rate.

good to know some ppl are getting new ones, but box damaged & "potentially" customer returns should be mentioned, just in case.

Can somebody clarify if 40GB models come with DualShock3 pad? I may recommend this to a friend if it does.

No, only 80GB or 160GB
#21
Fairly good deal for just the console considering you can get loads of top notch titles for less than £10 each like LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm, Uncharted and MGS4. Then maybe add Killzone 2 for £22 odd and it's a good 'bargain' bundle compared to the normal bundles. Just don't forget to add a HDMI cable (I still can't believe they don't include a HD cable!!).
#22
Just FYI guys, the original 60GB consoles tend to YLOD more than any other version. In fact every YLOD story I've heard was regarding the original 60GB/20GB PS3s (my 60GB YLODed). Very cheap for a PS3.

I don't think chelskii said anything wrong. In fact if you ask me i think bfjem is trying too hard to get people to buy these. I like the comment from the guy who said that PS3's having 1% failure compared to the 360 30% because I think he's right. However these are customer returns so one should question why these have been returned and how much have they been used.

It's great news to hear that people have been getting brand new PS3s but it would be silly to assume that you PS3 you may order will be in the same condition. Therefore I can't comment on whether people should buy these or not.

(By the way I am both and 360 and PS3 owner and think highly of both consoles).

If it was 30% they would have to recall them, Fact not Fiction.

I did read it in a 360 magazine that the estimated number of 360 failures is around 30% on consoles sold on launch day. The problem is that Microsoft don't release the number or reported failures they've had.

Its more like 90% on xenons

i love the 360 and have 4 360's and 2 ps3 60gig's

hey all I was trying to do was clarify what chelskii was posting by putting up 2 vids of YLOD and suggestively saying that second hand= issues...if you look I have recently posted a 360 deal, as im neither a fan of one or the other, im just an active member of the community site trying to help others with deals

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/391263/xbox-360-arcade-pcworld-currys-dixo

my reputation speaks for itself, I dont pesonally benifit from anyone buying the ps3's or 360's imjust trying to save some people money the whole point of the site is it not. as for the consoles being returns if they are not up to standard you can return them again so all is well .

^ i would agree that launch day consoles were in the 30% failure range, maybe even more.... but the newer models (Falcon 65/90nm & Jasper 65nm) are miles better than the old Xenon's (90nm).

i just had my Xenon fail on me (2RLoD - Overheat).

I got mine (40gb) from these over a year ago and its still fine, no complaints there.

If you're thinking of spending more on an 80gb Machine then get this and uprade the HD! in the end the 40gb and 80gb are the same machine so a 40gb machine with 320gb HD in it rocks for the overall cost
#37
do you get a years warranty with these?

Yeah I agree. Upgrading the hard drive is a fairly easy and low cost thing to do.

In the unlikely event you have any problems with an out of warranty PS3 simply sign up to:

https://continuousplay.co.uk/Default.aspx
Sign up to Continuous Play™ for £4.99 a month and we’ll replace your PlayStation® system within two working days if it develops a fault after your manufacturer's warranty expires or if it becomes damaged by accident.

and then just give them a call then cancel the cover when you get the replacement or leave it running if you like.

if you are going to get the games amazon offer and are happy with 80gb then tbh id prefer their 299 offer of new ps3, 2 games (either killzone2or resitance 2 and one of another bunch and hdmi lead). Games are limited however but i know id feel better getting a brand new machine for a little more. I still cant see the warranty buy it here give for these and dont see it mentioned in this thread.

that said, if you are wanting more space in your hd (as said above) paying extra for 80gb is silly as you'll replace it either way and if you dont want the games then its a heavy premium to pay if you consider these 'as new'
but i think you have to consider them second hand and treat them as warily.
