This machine is actually slightly quieter than the 60gb version, so maybe a reason to choose this ahead of the 60gb bundles that are doing the rounds.

Worth pointing out that the 40gb machine is actually cut down and has less features than the 60gb one.

Pro Evo 2008 is also apparently rather dire on the PS3. Bad conversion.

Not really a hot deal, sony have cut their prices so this is now going to be 299.99 everywhere apart from catalogues such as littlewoods where their prices are nearly doubled anyway. Cold vote from me sorry.

Worth pointing out that the 40gb machine is actually cut down and has less features than the 60gb one.

Correct.
The most obvious exclusion being that of backwards-compatibility.
But, if that is an issue, just don't trade in that PS2/PStwo quite yet.

Also has less USB ports (nothing to stop you using a mini-hub), and no card-reader (so no directly plugging in your digi-camera card to view the snaps - but, I'm guessing it will support a USB card-reader).
