Not sure if this is a local promotion or in all the Head Entertainment stores but I just picked up a Playstation 3 80GB Console (no game bundle) for £216 at the Liverpool store in Liverpool One. Liverpool Store is open till 8pm tonight.

Not sure how long this is for, I only know it started today by a member of staff.

There are no signs in store for it but if you go and ask an employee they will apply the discount in store. Original shelf price was £270

So you reckon they will increase the hard disk size, add in the EE chip again, AND cut the price in the same package (compared to the 80gb) despite the fact that the Yen has been unfavourable. Hmm....

Already got PS3 but can confirm this price at Leeds Store
#8
I've seen the 160gb limited edition in PC World yesterday. (Jarvis shopping center, Dubllin, ROI: 499 Euros)
Not sure if its backwards compatible tho.

Nice price, Good deal :)

PS3 PRICE cut confirmed.

Er, no.

A price cut on the Playstation 2 was confirmed yesterday.
In fact Sony have repeated their earlier comments that they plan no price cut in the PS3 at the moment.

Says who?
(outside of the fevered imagination and obvious wishful thinking of the PS3 fanzine site bloggers)

It might happen a few years down the line when they finally kill off the PS2 but there's nothing official about this claim either.

If you're sure I'm wrong then feel free & go ahead & link to an official Sony outlet saying otherwise.
I'll be happy to stand corrected.

"Following the news of a PS2 price cut earlier this week, a number of analysts believed that it would be followed by an announcement of a PS3 price cut. Instead, according to GameZine, Sony has announced a bizarre PS3 bundle, which will roll out shortly in North America and will include a PSTWO slim for a RRP of $419.99, $20 more than the price of a PlayStation 3.

The deal will apparently be available in North America this summer, but currently it hasn't been confirmed whether it will hit Europe.

"Just as PlayStation 2 is delivering on a 10-year lifecycle and helped expand and solidify the DVD format for home entertainment along the way, we believe PlayStation 3 offers the same promise by helping secure the Blu-ray format and delivering unprecedented value as the total home entertainment solution for the next decade," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA.

"For this reason we will be selling both consoles in one exclusive package for only $419.99. This will allow buyers to enjoy the 1,900 titles available for the PlayStation 2, whilst also taking advantage of the PlayStation 3's growing library."

Wait a second though, there's a few April Fool's going around, and as we can't see any official source for the news we'd guess this is a joke, right?

Heard about 6 mths ago that Sony would be releasing 2 versions of PS3, the 80gig & the 160 gig and dropping the 40gig. I guess it's so there's enough room for the downloadable content we can pay through the nose for rather than get hard copies from deals listed here.

Still no BC for Europe PS3s though.

Yes.... I must be the idiot because I am the one that posted the april fools joke a day late when previous posters were asking for proof of the claims..... :whistling:

Quotation marks go at the start and end and can encapsulate other quotes, you encapsulated what might have been your own post implying it was an april fools
