Excellent find

Good deal but without wanting to start the usual PS3 argument, still very overpriced.

Great price.

Well you have started the argument.

The Wii is basically a Gamecube with new controllers - it should cost about £100 max. But costs nearly £180. Nintendo are the only consol manufactures making money on their hardware from the start = overpriced.

X360 dont have wireless built, no HD DVD, no HDMI, and you have to pay for online - these things add up. Not mentioning a dead console in 13 months.

Argh! FFS! Please get your facts right before making such statements, idiot.

Anyway, good price for the ps3.

He might not be right but I don't think there's any need to get personal.

You can buy a wireless adapter, or if you're like me just plug it straight into the router. It doesn't have to come at any extra expense.

HD-DVD is sold seperately, yet still you could buy an Xbox Premium and HD-DVD for less than a PS3.

HDMI is being intergrated into the new Xbox 360 Elite. However there are no great advantages of an HDMI connection anyway.

Xbox Live is £32 for a whole year. It's not exactly expensive. PS3 is free, but they use dedicated servers, which means when the developers decide they want to stop paying for host servers for their games, you'll have no online. Unlucky.

Dead console? Have you seen the line up of games for the next year that have been announced on the 360? It eclipses anything on the PS3.

without a 37 inch hi def widescreen tv the ps3 is basically an overpriced ps2 with worse controllers:whistling:

therefore the cost of a ps3 should also be £100 max. But costs £425. Now thats overpriced:lol:

I dont own any consoles, my point is everyone keeps getting their knikers in a twist stating the PS3 is expensive - Im just pointing out that they are ALL overpriced.

Dont get me wrong though, I will have an X360 in a couple of months once my Uni is finished.

I was refering to the amount of consoles breaking down.

The X360 has an awesome line up.

gd_miester, I think you're confusing the PS3 being overpriced with the PS3 being overpriced in comparison with other next generation consoles. I personally think the XBox 360 is also overpriced. I have actually just bought a Wii and in my opinion it is worth £180 all day long. The family entertainment value goes a lot further for me than wonderful graphics and poor gameplay. While all the next generation consoles are overpriced I personally think that to expect people, especially parents of children who want the next hyped up toy to pay £425 without a game game is unacceptable. Furthermore, this is a hot deals site and I expressed my opinion of this being not that hot a deal and didn't wish to get into an arguement over which console is best.

Wii - Wiimote + Nunchuck = £50+

Great value when playing with another person.:)

Do you want to play 4 players, oh that is another £100 on top.
#13
I don't think you can make opinion really when it looks like you haven't played on the consoles.

Just because I don't wave my arms around doesn't mean it's poor gameplay. It's the games that matter. The Wii sells on being innovative. However what the Wii does, can also be achieved by the PS3 and 360. When these consoles take advantage of that, what left does the Wii have to sell on?

Yes I have owned a Wii. I bought one mainly for Zelda, which was great. I agree it is really fun; when the drink's flowing and you have some mates round. But the novelty of it wore off quite quickly for me, especially when playing by yourself. Plus I sold it on for more than I paid for, lol.

On topic: Woo yeah PS3, good price

Ooooh not this old argument again - someone shoot me. Its good for gamers if there are three strong contenders, it makes it competitive and prices lower, games better. One winner would mean the game creators could become lazy.

Nice deal OP, voted hot :)

Still very overpriced :whistling:

what makes me laugh is when people state the in-built wireless adapter on the wii and ps3....tbh the internal aerial on both is pants...the signal i get off my 360 is far superior to both the ps3 and the wii...in fact the signal for the wii in my last house was that bad that in the end i didnt bother connecting it to the t`internet

go to the avforums and you will notice that 95% of people are happy with their ps3. most often, those who aren't happy and those who own xboxes/wiis or have never owned a ps3.. my point is most buyers are happy with their ps3 so it is quite suprising that people are so quick to pass judgement when they don't actually own the system.. please don't flame me but i think that the best piece of advice are from those who actually own the system and have paid for it using their hard earned cash.. i am not saying that non-owners shouldn't give advice but i often find phrases like "the ps3 is over-priced" rather nonsensical since it is often from personal preconceptions and not actual hands-on true hd gaming/movie viewing experience..

comments like "the ps3 is not much different from a ps2" is another example of misguided preconceptions.. please try playing ps3 games in full hd and you will understand what i mean.. furthermore it is not just the graphics (up to 1080p widescreen) but also the physic, AI (artificial intelligence) and sound that sets the ps3 from previous generation console.

So whats best, Xbox or PS3?

Arrrggghhh BORING!
#19
doesn't matter what console you own so long as you are happy with it then that's what counts. in a way they do what they do pretty well. each console has it's strengths and weaknesses. and i think most users are happy with the product they have purchased. am i boring you yet?

If you've just lashed out over £400 for a console plus about £100 for a couple of games of course you're going to tell everyone you're happy!! Who is going to say, "I just spent £500 on an overpriced console and to be honest I think I made a big mistake and should have spent half the money on a Wii and some fun games"??
As an owner/dad of owners of a PS1, PS2, XBox 360, Wii, PSP, GBA and DS I have to say that the best gameplay of all comes from, wait for it..... my PC. NOT ONE of these consoles is a patch on playing Day of Defeat: Source or Half-Life 2 on a reasonable quality PC which also does a million other things too.
PS3 is still overpriced - just get yourself one of the £479 Dell PCs with a 22" monitor, throw in an £80 graphics card and for a little more than a PS3 you've got a gaming console, DVD player, Internet access, photo/video processor, email/word processor all in one.

that isn't quite true because not everyone thinks like you - there are people out there who can be quite honest. i have made lots of purchases that I think aren't worth the money . people have bought cars, laptops, tvs that have cost a lot more than the ps3 and they will be quite willing to say it's been a rubbish buy. have you ever read peer group reviews in amazon, ebuyer etc and acted upon them - which reviewers do you take the most notice of: the people who have owned the product or the people who have a view on the product but have never actually owned it? i really don't want to get drawn into a war about which console is better than others since i think they are all pretty good. furthermore, i don't really want to get into a discussion about pc is better than ps3 (and vice-versa) because they aren't really the same product. the two products are similar but at the same time are intrinsically different. for example, people out there like the simplicity of the ps3 - not many people want a pc in the living room; they won't have to deal with windows/vista/viruses/phishing/trojans/spyware etc and the product they are are getting won't be replaced for at least six years/the specs won't change forcing them to buy new software/drivers/components. my point is pc are incredible value for money but they aren't the same as a ps3. ps: i note that you don't actually own a ps3 - infact you own every console other than a ps3. :p

OMG it was obviously a joke:whistling:

and with regards to playing a ps3 in full HD that was the actual point

you need a full HD system to have one (recommended by people on avforums that at least a 37 inch widescreen or don't bother getting one)
