Just a quick question, are there many PS3 games that need 2 controllers/co-op mode or whatever?

I'm thinking about buying a PS3 for the kids (well myself actually, lol) I'm trying to suss out how much it's gonna cost, £30 for a controller I may not need is one expense I can do without (even tho' it is a good price:))

You need 2 if two people want to play it. (You will get one with the console)

So, if "the kids" are going to be playing, they need one each. :)

Just got mine a PS3 - not many of the games we have are 2 player (although I expected more of them to be as they are maibly fighting & racing games), but the one they like best Lego Indiana Jones 2 is a two player Co-operative game, so i'm glad I got a cheap compatible controller.

Thinking about getting this though, is it really that good a deal? (for the official wireless controller)

Ah we've got that on the PS2 (God I love that console) and the Wii, might give it a miss on this one and start off with single player games for a while.

Not sure if this is a 'really' good deal or not, I haven't took much notice of the PS3 deals until now.

Thanks btw:)

We're overloaded with consoles - by accident and that I don't sell the old ones, but just move them to different parts of the house! (Gamecube, PS2, Wii and now PS3) as a non-gamer - the graphics on the PS3 are so much nicer than any of the the others even on the Lego game and as I wanted a blu ray player as well. Also got rid of the DVD player so the one TV is much less cluttered now!

The boys are also loving Need for Speed Shift (so the other games haven't got much use yet - but I'm sure they'll get their turn!)

My kids play Little Big Planet absolutely loads, mainly creating levels. We have 3 controllers so 3 can play at once on that. There's also Marvel Alliance that they can all take part in. We've downloaded a few games via PSN & so Bomberman & Crash team Racing are proving pretty popular (though we can only get CTR to recognise 2 controllers at once)

All in all I'd say there are games out there if you look for them, plus it's pretty handy having more than one controller for whilst hte other one's charging (unless you like sitting really close to the screen)

£4 cheaper than Amazon so a good price.

Just can't justify buying one, when I have 2 "old" Sixaxis controllers.

Shop around, I bought a pack in Argos (sorry can't find it on-line but it could still be in store) containing a PS3 controller and a DVD remote for £14.99.

You can play 4-player co-op on LittleBigPlanet, and that game is GREAT for kids. Will keep their attention for a very long time.

I'm sorry but is this really a bargain? I have 2 dualshock 3's and I paid no more than £26 each for them; allbeit bought a few months ago.

Not official Sony i'm guessing?

for anyone who has ps2 controllers lying around, i recommend getting ps3 adapters from amazon for £10 each. i bought two and they work flawlessley. the select button acts as the PS button and the only drawback is that the connection is wired which really doesnt bother me as i like to sit close to tv.

what do they do for out of stock stuff, I felt like getting the blue one, paypal is immediate, wonder how long it will take for them to get stock, is it discontinued, it is dualshock 3.

Hot from me as £39.99 in store at GAME. For anyone whose interested, there's an eBay seller listing tons of official Sony controllers for £21.99. He's in China but they are brand new and packaged. Availible in black and white. Have a look :)

if this is the one you can see light through then its a bad deal but if you cant see light through then its a great deal as the controller that you cant see through has vibration and the see through one dosent

If you are looking to buy 2 extra controllers look at very, littlewoods etc. if use a £30 off £60 spend voucher you can get 2 for £40...... also be careful with ebay bought two "official sony ps3 controllers" from china for cheap, and although they work well and are good imitations they weren't the real mccoy

Its dualshock 3 that means it has vibration and the ones sold as sixaxis do not.

I just found it on the Argos website. It's not a Dual Shock, but for a spare one for kids its good value. Might be more suitable for those just after a spare unit. It's £14.99 down from £39.99.

It also includes a HDMI cable, and a vertical stand (not for PS3 slim though). The HDMI cable might be useful, the stand isn't for me. I just bought it for the wireless game controller and the (simple) spare DVD remote. It does have good feedback from other shoppers on the Argos site.

Argos write-up:-

Get in the game with 'Mega Pack' for the Playstation 3, a full range of accessories to maximize your PS3 gaming experience.

The vertical stand will safely secure your console (vertical stand is not compatible with the new PS3 120GB & 250GB slim consoles).

The 2.4 GHz wireless controller uses 6 Axis technology and allows for play anywhere in the room.

Experience the best picture and sound possible with the included HDMI cable and get great control with the DVD remote.

This will bring quality gaming to a whole new level.

coh looks bad to me, I guess its preference, there are bad review just rank lowest to read them. The main downside is that you have to insert the dongle into the PS3 for the remote to work, its not Bluetooth.

fine if you dont mind your kids having a major row about who gets the proper controller. Both remotes use a usb port so get used to having to swap things around all the time.
