Heat added, great price OP.

Plus it looks far better than the slimline version. Piano black > Matt black! :)

I can imagine! I was one of those very lucky ones who managed to get one from the Additions screw up of 30% off, and after quidco my brand new PS3 worked out to be about £195, bargain :)

It's cool that the console has finally come down in price though. Plenty of good deals to be had now that the slimline is due out, and honestly I'd rather stick with the older, bigger design. It looks far, far better!

Are they gonna start bringing prices down from tuesday? for the 80gbs

Quick question to anyone who can answer do you think the price will drop even further - to the region inbetween £150 - £180?

Because I wanna get this but I am thinking shall I wait for the price to drop or get it now?

Thanks in advance for who ever replys.

I highly doubt it, although it largely depends on how much stock of the older units retailers/suppliers have, and how desperate they are to get rid of them. £150 is overly optimistic, but near £180 might not be too unlikely.

Yes It will definitely come down to around £150. Depends how long you want to wait. Probably be down in a year or so.:whistling:

I was amused to see Gamestation selling new 80GB fat PS3s with a game for £250 , or secondhand 80GB fat PS3s with a game for £250 , or wait a couple of days for a new slim PS3 for the same price.....

Difficult decision , that.

Get your wallet out and stop punishing yourself, you know you want one. The time is right.
Start playing and enjoying all the stuff you have been dreaming of. Quick before the deal is out of stock.

or try this one if you want to save a bit more.

Totally ignore this post, what a crazy comment (and to think some people may actually believe what these daydream people claim will happen:roll:..).there is not a cat in hells chance the PS3 will retail at £150.

Ive purchased both a PSP and a PS3 from them and BOTH were completely brand new.

Most reports indicate it's a bit quieter, which is quite an achievement considering the standard PS3 isn't noisy anyway.

I think his point was that if you wait long enough it will retail at £150 quid. Which it will, but there will probably be a new console out by then.

My first DVD player was £170 and my last was £20 for a model with more functions and smaller. So I think it is fair to say it will get to the £150 mark but by then you may not want it :?

I swear i've seen it for £199 brand new! Need to jog my memory to remember where I saw it.

Not voting either way :)

There's 2% quidco for sainsbury's, so that brings it down to just above £205

deffo!!
get one!
looks so much better!

I think the old one looks better, however the new one has the benefits of a smaller footprint and that it uses a lot less power.

I think I'll be selling my xbox and getting a new PS3 after christmas
#25
I reckon the new one looks better myself, I had the 60gb which I sold recently and its a magnet for dust and fingerprints. Go slim!
#26
Voted cold. I don't see why you wouldn't spend a few more quid for the slim model, larger drive and more importantly a third less energy.
#27
my local sainsburys (Cramlington) had them for £219.97 with LittleBig Planet & Ghostbusters the movies games.

yeah too true, keep your 360 and get a ps3 aswell, its the only option!

The one and only reason that i would buy a PS3 now is for Gran Turismo 5 and use it as a blu-ray/dvd player for the kids. Guess i'll wait it out for a good PS3 + Gran Turismo 5 deal around xmas time. I didn't buy a PS3 due to no games appealing to me, as i play all my FPS + RTS games on the PC. But seeing how Gran Turismo 5 is shaping up, im actually considering to buy it now. Plus dvd playback seems to be better than my current dvd player and bluray seems to be of excellent quality on my 26" Samsung LCD at 720p.

I could keep it but I dont play on it at all and it's just a waste of space. I bought it thinking it'd be the dogs dangers but I don't like it much at all. It's a good job I only paid £95 for it.

I know wxactly what the point was and i can GUARANTEE you, the PS3 Phat will NEVER retail at £150....instead over the next few months they will 'phase out' the phat Ps3, probably reducung it to clear at £199 or even £189 and then there will be NO MORE new ones once they have gone as they will be ONLY supplying the slim so im affraid any notion that these are going to come down to £150 is complete dreamland.
#33
I sold my Xbox 360 last month after holding on and holding on because people said i'd regret it. Well, after 5 weeks of PS3 ownership i can honestly say i have NEVER regretted the switch to PS3. Dont know why people say that.

In your opinion. History shows us that they do reduce the price of their consoles right down, so who knows?

Show me anywhere in history where a sony game machine has fallen in retail by HALF ??? - people are living in a fantasy land if they think they will pick a PS3 up for £150. IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!! - Absolutely NO NEED - Retailers will be just ridding the shelves of the 'old' PS3s over the coming months with cheap deals with inclusive games - (theres none under £200 let alone £150)....and once these PS3s have sold out THATS THAT....there will be NO MORE made and therefore no need to reduce the price in desperation to LESS than cost because there are MANY MANY people who would snap up an 'old' PS3 at even £200 so why would they want to lose even MORE money?

Thats not opinion...its pretty much common sense.

My 'opinion' is that they will be reduced to NO LESS than £179....we will see though, might not even be as low as that.

er.. ps2 launch price US$299, current retail price Euro/USD99. Yes this drop took almost 9 years but people are saying GBP150 at some time is possible so to bet against it may not be wise. Fair enough you may be too busy with your PS4 to care...

I think you'll find the 80gb and slim use about the same power consumption

I think you've missed my point (again!!) You CANNOT still buy the ORIGINAL PS2 PHAT in the shops brand new retail....you 'can' buy the PS2 'SLIM' at a very few places........so you are wrong !! when the PS4 comes out then the PS3 'SLIM' could make it down to £150 because the PS3 will no longer be the latest playstation (be it slim or Phat) - but seeing as there is no PS4 yet then all that will happen is the PS3 Phats will phase out over the next 6 months and you will NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE IT FOR ANY PRICE BRAND NEW at some point in the next 12 months.

i reiterate...the PS3 PHAT will NEVER be in the shops retailing at £150...NEVER EVER...period.
