thanks!
It seems the best deal around for an 80gb ps3 at the moment..

Great find!

Great - just ordered one!

I was considering a 'slim', but have read a lot of reviews saying that they're often noisier, and not as good for playing DVD's and BlueRay's as the older 'fat' model.

Lovely price.

I have no experience of the 80gb model, but I can honestly say that the slim isn't that bad. It's a lot quieter than my 60gb. The disc loading mechanism isn't as smooth and sounds clunky, but I would rather watch dvd's/blueray on this one, as I can't hear it when the tv volume is turned down!

This is a great deal for an 80gb console though, heat and rep ;)

I've owned the 60gb, 40gb and 80gb versions, and would have to say that the slim is definitly quieter than all 3 'fat' versions. Can't say I've noticed any clunky DVD mechanisms or poor DVD playback either.

I think that it's possible to get a noisier fan on any model you buy though. For example, the 80gb had a noticably more noisy fan than the 40gb I had.

You can't rely on any particular ps3 being more quiet or more noisy it seems to vary a lot. I have a 60GB model which is pretty good and a 40GB which is near silent. The fans in the slim are large and capable of a faster speed I believe than earlier ones so in theory they could get noiser but then if they are working harder to cool the console to stop it cooking itself thats not a bad thing.

good price, surely a ps3 slim is the way forward?

looks a good deal thanx

does the 80gig play PS2 Games????

does the 80gig play PS2 Games????

I think the answer's "No". I've read some conflicting posts saying that the early 80GB's did, but then other posts saying that none of the 80GB's ever did. I would imagine this one almost certainly won't though.

Correct. Definitely doesn't play PS2 games

Only the original 60GB model plays ps2 games but all ps3s play ps1 games if you want to get really retro.
