Do these things HAVE to use a Playstation Eye? Surely a more normal webcam would also work, or is this a case of getting more of your cash on Sony's part?

I agree, if i wanted to move about playing games i would have bought a wii, only thing i might want the move for is tiger woods.

Personally the 3D glasses and 3D features coming to the PS3 are more what im intrested in,

The Playstation Move Option is far cheaper than microsoft more expensive kinnect system (good idea but 130 notes) and is on par with WII. Playstation Eye and Playstation Move Pack is available....This is could be Sony best move yet... Let hope they bring out a patch for Mirror Edge or Star Wars Unleashed 2

I'd love to see it integrated with a Star Wars title.

Did you see Kinect's pathetic attempt at a Star Wars game? Couldnt stop laughing when I saw the trailer.

£130 for Kinect is admittedly steep but Move isn't far off when you need extra stuff for extra players. Kinect for 2 people requires no more hardware.
Move for 2 people:
- £50 camera/wand starter pack
- £18 sub controller
- £30 second wand thing
- £18 second sub controller
- £20 charging station
_____
£136

All very much of a muchness. In my opinion it'll come down to game support and implementation.
#14
in the end, both will be written off as failed Wii rip-off's.

they're too late to market with them, the pricepoints for attracting new users are too high, and the benefits for existing system owners aren't worth the outlay imo.

plus system add-ons for consoles very rarely fare well, just ask Sega.....

taking a snap shot for your licence in burnout paradise and using the move controllers are very different things. this will not work with the first playstation eyetoy, thats a fact

This isnt essential for playstation move most games dont require the sub controller
The ones that do you can use ur dualshock 3 instead
#17
If I was Sony to really push this I would just go for break even on these things and let the retailers make their own mark up just to sell. Sony could do very well with this but they really need to stack up the consumer base especially if we are talking about potentially using 2 move controllers for particular types of games.

Hope having some glowy ball in front of me when I'm playing doesn't put me off neither as I always get drawn to light sources and they begin to annoy me if I'm watching the TV. Such as the energizer induction charger where I have had too put tape over it to block out the bright lights.

if you have a ps3 then you will have at least 1 controller which can be used as a sub controler and as you dont need a charging station and we know you added it on there only to bulk up the price. also move has lots of real games (not party crap). kinect only has 2

Bit pricey having to buy all the bits. Is there a big pack available with everything needed?
#21
Once again the lame price argument rears its ugly head.

That shouldn't really matter to anyone unless you have both systems, and even then you will probably get both anyway.

All reviews I've read all have great things to say for the Move, the only nags seem to be the lack of launch titles and some people have said the buttons can be fidderly to reach, but I'm sure the latter just takes practice.

Just google Playstation Move Review(s) and then click latest and you can see for yourself.

Ignore the Troll ****, they have no idea what they are talking about.

lets face it man, this is basically the wii for a playstation the only better thing about it is better definition and larger games are in theory designable for the playstation... but then for the same price as all the gear you can bu8y a Wii which has a vast quantity of games purely designed for motion controlling allready out and far better value... playstation move is allready old technology and a complete waste of money and developers time

Kinect for the Xbox in my opinion is way more revolutionary, with the chat interface and i could see it really taking off in that dance steps game just like the old dancemats did, there is only the one of cost of paying for connect with a compatible console for that and no buying controllers for multiple players = wayy way better!

im a PS3 owner and it **** me off to see such childish novelty technology being developed which will require no skill to use, for what is the most powerful gaming console on the market...A WASTE OF TIME

Lol.
The Move has the Z axis, which the Wii can't do. Also 3D gaming, much much better games, much better graphics and gameplay.
It's cheaper to set up than buying a Wii like you suggested.

And Kinect is an epic fail, flap your arms around like a noob and rubbish games.
And you say it's more revolutionary, when it's basically a more improved Eyetoy.

Not to mention it will cost you more than a games console.

i can second that. i did some research on reviews for some of the games, and the reviews are pretty good. im actually looking forward to having a play around with these.

as for the wii comparisons. yes, undoubtably these are based aroung the wii motes. but that is were the similarities end. sony have taken that technology and advanced it.
same with kinect, they have taken the eyetoy/playstation eye idea and developed it even further. is there any thing wrong with either of these companies doing this! i dont think so, this is called advancement in technology. its how things always progress.
#33
This is how I see it.

Nintendo are the creative thinkers who exceed to propel and find their own niche to succeed.
Sony are the technologists who can get good quality stuff and make it a proper business keeping to traditional thinking.
Microsoft are the cash hungry hippos who use their money to put the market in their favour.

keep having to do the @ sign cause i dont know how to quote on new hot uck deals...

@darknight

your right about the 3d and im sure bout the z axis, but i definately think your wrong about the "better games" what are these better games??? the class games such as GT5 which is designed primarilly for a controller but has the option for this aswell... as sloppy seconds?? the wii has masses of games allready out and bargains which have been designed primarilly for this moving technology their quirky and target the non gamer grandparents and mums market etc.. if you want to do 2ppl on playstation move, then buyin a wii is definately a cheaper option for a whole other console!

i dont even like the wii! i used to own one and the novelty wore off asap, im 100% sticking to controller.. it just makes me angry playstation would waste their time on such a venture when in my opinion they havnt been doing a particularly great job with the standard console

as with regards to kinect while i certainly wont be venturing near it im merely saying i could see alot of people getting more excited about that dancing game which is basically a full body version of the dance mat, teenage kids will love it, forget that game at E3 where they were jumping around on a raft lol

Wow, where do i start...

Killzone 3
Dead Space
Littlebigplanet
Heavy Rain
Tiger Woods
Resident Evil 5
Flower
Time Crisis
Socom 4
Littlebigplanet 2

And that's before it's even released. There will be loads of better games in the near future too.

And of course it's slightly cheaper to use the Wii, but that's because the technology isn't as good.

Then you clearly have no vision for innovation and evolution.

This is a potentially a Wii Killer!

So what if its just like the Wii remotes (which is isn't!) and so what that the Wii go there first!

The only thing that matters is that the PS3 has it now and only good things will come with it.

You say the Kinect is more revolutionary? Well in terms of what it does then no as the Eyetoy did games using the players movements first. So no its not.

Yes it has amazing tech, but look at the games that are limited by it?

You will never see Gears of War, Halo or any other AAA title for it, because those games require buttons to play, but the Move will get those AAA titles but with the added bonus of having the Motion controls.

The Kinect has boxed itself into a corner, the Move has an open playing field that stretches for miles!

Anyone that doesn't see that is either a fanboy for another system or clearly lacking any imagination or vision.

Once again you post shows you are clearly lacking the visions and a understanding of the way the Gaming business works.

If your Nintendo, then no the Wii doesn't need killing, if your Sony and you want a slice of that pie, then the Wii needs to be killed.

As for your ignorance about the games listed, great, use your controller, if you aren't interested in the Move, then you no longer need to post here as you've made your point, but for us folk that want to play the games using the Move, then we are very interested and keen to get this.

Please move along, we don't need Trolls and we don't care for their uneducated and ill-informed posts about the Hardware that we are interested in.

oh and btw in response to jerec

i mean i have never read a more hipocritical drivel, to refer to the playstation move as inovative and yet kinect not so due to it being similar to the eye toy... what planet are you on son, if you cant see the playstation move is simply a more developed rip of the wii then your blind!

you say move opens up these big titles but, theyve always been played via standard controlelrs and been much better and responsive for it, lets face it for the vast majority of people it is gonna be the extended extras at the end of a dvd which youve paid the extra money for but would never waste your time watching....

at risk of repeating myself playstation are wasting there time on what is allready old tech... you say youll never see gears of war or halo for the move or kinect and youve touched 100% on my point

why the hell would you want to? these are massive titles that millions enjoy and have always done so through pressing buttons on a controller

jerec mate what are you on, i am a consumer so obvcourse im not going to look at sony interms of a business who want some wii pie, im gonna look from a consumer point which i bought into originally by getting a ps3 and say focus on that

the reason it concerns me in this debate is because i dont want developers wasting time with this technology, i cant take it seriously, along with all the big titles that will ahve sloppy second move ability you know there is going to be endless cheap trash that will be developed to target the move.. its a waste of time and money feel free to buy into it id rather put my money straight in the bin
