Twinkle twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are…Yes, never has a nursery rhyme terrified so many.

From today until 5th September (that’s five weeks this time) all our PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download Dead Space 2 as part of their subscription.

And with that, let’s roll film…

Special thanks go out to EA Games for their support in bringing this fantastic blend of action and survival horror to our members.

Engineer Isaac Clarke returns for the sequel to the critically acclaimed Dead Space. After waking from a coma in a massive space city known as The Sprawl, the lone survivor of a horrific alien infection finds himself confronting a catastrophic new nightmare. Not only that but he’s also battling dementia, is being hunted by the government and is haunted by visions of his dead girlfriend.

And what where would we be without a massive 50% off all the associated DLC for our Game of the Month? For the next two weeks you can grab the ‘Severed’ expansion, and three extra special weapons and suit packs for Dead Space 2 at half price. Simply pick up any of them you like when you go to claim your game from the Plus section on the Store.

Not played the original Dead Space? May I suggest you pick it up from the Store if you’d like to visit Isaac’s earlier adventure? Alternatively, in the Trailers section you’ll find a video to help you catch up on the Dead Space story events prior to Dead Space 2.

BUT WAIT! There’s more…

As some of you already know, I have promised you all some exciting extras this month and the first of these comes in the shape of a game brand new to SCEE PlayStation Store – Rock of Ages from Atlus.

A rock-solid combination of rock-rolling action, deep strategy, and captivating art and music from different ages of history, this is a game of crush or be crushed! Two castles stand opposed; one is yours, the other is your enemy’s. They’re jerks and their castle sucks, so you’re going to try to smash it using an enormous boulder. Even as they build up their defenses, you’re ready to roll over them in order to raze that unsightly tower. But beware! There’s a giant boulder headed your way, too.

Rock of Ages is available at no-cost for the next four weeks (until 29th August) and is not part of the usual rotation for Plus members – it’s an added extra for all our subscribers this August. That means come the mid-month update you still have two more fantastic titles to grab for Your Instant Game Collection.

And that’s not the end of it! There’s EVEN more to come, including extra value especially for Plus members on Andy’s fantastic Summer special offers, launch discounts on a selection of new titles and a few more special bits and pieces to come to light later in the month.

I will be back on 15th August, during gamescom 2012 with two more games for Your Instant Game Collection to replace Darksiders and Renegade Ops, both of which have only two weeks left as part of YIGC.

I’ll also have a launch date for the very first of our PlayStation Plus Presents indie titles, Retro/Grade!

See you in the comments…

New Avatars

Burger Face, Sleepy Taco, Careless Sushi, Ice Cream Sandwich, Ice Cream Swirl Cone and Ice cream Truck avatars!

Dynamic Themes

Beach dynamic theme, PolyWave Red dynamic theme, PolyWave Blue dynamic theme and Dragon 2 dynamic theme.

More to come later this month!

Playstation store update

Autobots, roll out! Get a taster of Activision’s latest Transformers game in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

Play as Bumblebee and Vortex as you fight your way through two exciting chapters of the Transformers: Fall of Cybertron game. Then take the fight online with Team Deathmatch and Conquest multiplayer modes, and get a sneak peak at the new character creator.

The much awaited Rock of Ages comes out today which will also be included in PS Plus. There’s also Puddle for PS Vita that I know some folks were asking about last week.

For DLC check out those adorable Disney Princess costumes for LittleBigPlanet 2. If adorable isn’t your thing, then perhaps fighting spirit is – check out extra characters for Street Fighter x Tekken. New fighters include Bryan Fury, Lei Wulong and one of my favourites, Guy.

Andy’s Summer Sale also begins today which you can find by clicking right here. Titles on offer range from LA Noire to Toy Story 3, so hopefully there’s something there for all.

Think I will subcribe just for that dlc offer as well as the additional discounts on the sales items as well as the freebies!

Plus has finally got it right. Remember a year ago? I shudder at the thought of how Plus used to be.

Will try out Dead Space 2, but in the last 3 updates none of the games i've enjoyed but the previous plus updates there was always games i would enjoy. Assume something will come up soon i'll enjoy but not been too happy.

Already have DS2 but Rock of Ages looked interesting when I noticed it on Steam. Might as well give it a go!

This just keeps getting better and better. I have to say a year ago the games from some months would not excite me but I've had my moneys worth with plus over the year. However if the current layout keeps up it will be a lot more worth it than the old plus and certainly a lot better than paying for xbox live which I'm starting to think about not keeping now as you dont really get anything beyond the online play.

Great. Now let there be great games in the sale.

hmmm take it back, just checked rock of ages out on youtube and looks quite good.....Thought it was the awful rock game with Jack Black in it...Thankfully it's not.

I'm sure they only changed as companys were more willing to do this and make an increase from dlc and also so people couldn't play them on PSP/Vita :(

Normally between 3 - 5. You can normally find stuff by searching before the full update.

Urmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I would probably buy this I knew WTF its all about

I got one of the £140 deals from Amazon a little while back - it is sat under my Samsung SMART 3D all singing all dancing TV being used as a plain Media Server (and very good at that it is)

All I want is to be entered into the dark realm so I can play a game or two!

I've no doubt this is a good deal - for some who know how to benefit from it

Agree, Got a few games for my vita that i really like but not got back to the use i had from it at first, saying that i've not really been playing any games at the moment so possibly why. Think in a years time with classics support, cheaper games and more games then this will be a lot better.

PS Plus has been amazing since I got it - theres been some quality games dished out for free. Dead Space 2 is awesome, but probably not quite as good as the first.
Sadly I spend more time downloading games for the PS3, rather than being able to find the time to play them...

For anyone considering Plus, we'll be getting 3 more games come mid-August. One is Retro/Grade which is some indie music game you can use a guitar hero control in (Albeit it doesn't look necessary). The game looks quite cool.

Dunno what the other 2 are, I think they hinted one would be a full Blu-Ray release game and the other a PSN only. USA got The Walking Dead Ep 1+2 for free this month and they've hinted we'll get them soon too - EU always gets all the Telltale freebies the USA do so seems likely.

Plusers - are any of you having problems loading up stuff on the Plus pages? On dynamic themes and discount pages stuff doesn't seem to load up and there seem to be quite a few gaps between available items. Probably overload and it'll be fixed but quite annoying.

Once you download, do you keep the game forever?!
#24
So how does Plus work with games you download? Is the rolling stock just the current few games for that month, or also everything that had previously been available?

Also, is it the case that once you download you can only play them while you have a valid PS+ subscription?
#25
Guys just to note Grand theft Auto Vice city, liberty cities and china town is also on offer at £3.99 you can also play them on the VITA!

PS Plus is just like renting, you get to keep the games as long as your subscription is valid. Its around 39.99 a year i think, but the PSN cards go on offer occasionally, I got my membership for £32

Whilst you have your PS+ Membership i've had it from the start and currently have 99 ps3 titles, 56 minis, 1 ps2 game, 33 playstation 1 games, 2 Neogeo titles. not all of these was from my membership but a good few were. Should note now though the majority are PS3 titles either full blu ray released games or PSn Titles.

?

Everything available at the time now, so there should be 10 games available at the moment with a change at the end of every month (First wednesday of each month) and a change in the middle of the month.

Also, is it the case that once you download you can only play them while you have a valid PS+ subscription

Basically when you subscribe you get access to all the games currently in like the 'plus' collection, so thats Dead Space 2, Darksiders, Infamous 2, Motorstorm:Apocalypse, Renegade Ops, Rock of Ages, Outland, Stranglers Wrath, Lara Croft Guardian of Light, Saints Row 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2.

Then every month stuff gets rotated, but you keep everything you download until your PS+ sub runs out. Also I believe if say, you download all the above, then unsubscribe to plus, then like 4 months later get your sub again, you'll have access to all the games you downloaded previous on top of the new stuff there.

Every month gets 3-5 new games, one is always a full PS3 games like this months Dead Space 2, or last months Deus Ex.

Nearly right, there are 3 blocks of 2 games rotated every 6 weeks (so each game is available for 18 weeks), and then one game of the month which gets updated on the first Wednesday of each month. Little Big Planet 2, Motorstorm Apocalypse and one other (can't think) are available all year.

Really looking forward to Dead Space 2, I don't suppose it's the limited edition ;)

Thinking of selling my disc based games collection, there's about 6 or 7 full games on my harddrive I've not touched

Yes - they disappear from your download list when your subscription ends and you cannot play them. When you rejoin, they reappear in your download list and you can play previously downloaded games again. (Source: Personal experience when my PS+ account expired in June).

It's always worth starting a download, letting it get to 1% and then cancelling, that way it shows in your download history. Apparently saving to your basket also works, but I wouldn't 100% trust that method, in case I'd stored £100+ worth of games in my basket and then either Sony (or more likely my kids) accidently deleting my basket

ps+ does sound tempting but im not sure how much

Try it for 3 months (£11.99) - you'd get all the games Jammy mentions (Dead Space 2, Darksiders, Infamous 2, Motorstorm:Apocalypse, Renegade Ops, Rock of Ages, Outland, Stranglers Wrath, Lara Croft Guardian of Light, Saints Row 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 - plus whatever comes out in the next 3 months) and then if you like it join for a year (cheaper cost per month).

Use PSN vouchers to get the price down, unsure of the best price currently, but you should eb able to get a £25 code emailed to you for £20 in the FS/ FT forum

Here's a tip for you all, i'm sure it's already been mentioned:

If you are low on space or you decide you want to download the games at a later date, you will need to download the game and once activated just press cancel, the game will automatically be saved to your download list. This is handy for people who's PS plus sub is about to expire, low on space or just want to play later. You will need to be a PS plus member to download the games again from your download list if your PS plus is expired.

Happens everytime the store is updated (especially PS Plus free games), Sony's servers are shocking sometimes.
