it isn't a gimmick. it is much better than most pvr.
not from an energy point of view (and your electricity bill) and not from a price point either, as there are standalone pvr's with bigger harddrives (and thats dedicated space, not split between games, home, photos etc...) available for almost the same price.
dont get me wrong, it looks beautiful and works well. but its only a dual tuner pc card in a box, this should have cost no more than £30 from the start.

Care to link to something thats better for a similar price? Otherwise its not much of an argument.

80gb ps3 uses no more than 130 watt and the machine turns itself on to record. 130 watt usage at 4hrs a day doesn t even add up to much - just a bit more than a standard 100 watt lightbulb. And if you are playing games, surfing the net or watching a blu-ray the ps3 is on anyway. I added a link in one of my posts but I think it is somewhere less than 30 pounds a year to operate a pvr.
I stupidly bought one of these by accident thinking my boyfriend has a PS3...evidentally it's the only console he doesn't have!!
Can't remember where I got it from as it was a few months back...but it was deffo more that £45 so great deal.
It's basically the same but for freeview channels only. You can also use a psp to watch tv from a wireless hotspot using this thing, anywhere in the world.

So it doesn't work with Sky Digital then? :?

No where near as good as the Humax 9200 - regretting getting this tbh.
Good price if you want it though.

I got it when it was £65.
Very neat little piece of kit. I only have 2 boxes under my TV now. A Technics tuner/surround sound and the PS3. That saves me from having:
Blu-ray/DVD player
PVR
Freeview box
PlayTV can also be used with an LCD monitor so enable TV playback on a screen with no tuner built in.

The branches of Woolworths that are closing on the 27th Dec, are doing them for £34.99. Just picked one up in Streatham.
