Plextor are a good brand and data speeds are near-equal to full sized SSD's from the likes of the Samsung Evo range, around 500/420 read/write mb/s. I already have one in an XPS and have bought this for wife's laptop to compliment her existing 1TB spinner.

Also, if you're on Flubit you'll get an even better price. I did two Flubit's for both the 128 and 256gb models and both came back with 11% discount, so the 256gb was only £82.80 which is a no-brainer and thus purchased there instead.

Hope it helps. 5 of the 128GB and 3 of the 256GB at time of writing.

Merry Christmas all.

In an mSATA bay, not in a caddy in the HDD bay? There's some doubt about whether an SDD will function in the mSATA bay.

If you have a designated mSATA bay in the laptop then yes, definitely, you can buy any mSATA (recommended more than 128GB if you're putting the OS on it) and insert into the port and away you go. I installed a new OS on a friend's Latitude (think it was the 6400 series) recently and that went fine. Check under the base door and if there's an mSATA bay you're good to go. Hope it helps.

The 256GB model has now dropped another £4 to £89.47. If you can flubit, you should get in the region of a 10 - 12% discount, so under £80 which is amazing value.

Wow, it's now dropped to just over £81 direct from Amazon. Absolute bargain for this and you'll likely get it for around £70ish with Flubit which is around the same price as what the 128GB model was a few months ago.

The item isn't an SSD it's an mSATA, and yes it will work

it is a SSD, mSATA is the connection

how would I go about putting this in a Fujitsu life book a512 ?

These are great if you have a laptop. You can have a hard disk drive for storage or movies/games and use the mSata
SSD for the operating system and programs. Best of both worlds if you can only fit one hard drive into your laptop and it has a spare mSata/mPCIe.

I think this 256GB Toshiba (£76.39) is probably the best MSATA deal at the moment Toshiba 256GB mSATA Solid State Drive THNSNH256GMCT4PAGA at Scan. For anyone without free delivery, next day delivery is £4.57.

Bought this. Fitted it & installed OS plus drivers from the factory-install CD that I'd previously created. Went without a hitch.
