Good price from an online retailer. I got one of these exact same switches on a Buy It Now last week from an Ebay seller for a pound or two less delivered. It looks identical but mine is branded Vivo. The remote and stuff seems to work well.

Hi

The information for this switch suggests that it will work for DVI-D HD TVs but my understanding is that HDMI cables do not carry audio, therefore a seperate input for audio would be required (assuming you're not running audio through a home entertainment system). In which case this isn't suitable for DVi-D tvs. I hope I am wrong as this is a good price, but can anyone confirm?

Cheers

HDMI cables carry audio. Though not 5.1. Think of it as a HD Scart.

Hi guys (and girls). Is anyone actually using one of these and is happy? I'm worried there may be a decrease in picture quality. I can't figure out why this costs just over £20 and other switches are over 100
cheers

HDMI cables carry audio and video signals

Rubbish, HDMI cables carry all types of audio, in fact they're the only way to carry high bandwidth audio such as 7.1, TrueHD, DTS-HD and other uncompressed audio types.

These cheaper ones work absolutely fine, the expensive ones cost so much because the sellers can charge this and people pay.

The signal is digital, you can't degrade picture quality with poor cables or switcher on digital.

It sends a digital signal which is essentially decoded when it is received by your TV. Much like digital audio via an optical cable, it either works or it doesn't.

If you are saying that for HDMI -> DVI connections, then you are correct, there will be no sound through DVI input TV's.

No idea, I can't get it for that cost either, can only guess that the cost has gone up since the OP.

Hmmm, i've just tried my unit for the first time, which looks remarkably like this one and i'm getting a great picture but no sound from it.

I've tried all the ports, the cables I know are fine, rebooted it, switched it back on in sequence with my other kit but still no sound.

You need the power to switch ports.

Is the thing any good?
