I have a Linksys WRT54GS router, which I use for the wireless network

However I have an old pc which only has windows 98 and the Linksys adaptors I have bought do not support windows 98.

Could I use this adaptor with my Linksys WRT54GS router??

Any help would be appreciated

i would say yes, the drivers say 98 :) download the drivers from the link though, dont use the supplied CD at all

Vista:RT2571W/RT2671:3.1.4.0
RT2500:3.1.0.0
98/ME/2K/XP:RT2571W/RT2671:1.3.0.0
RT2500:2.1.1.0

i bought this last night, comes to £11.07 with delivery

Sweet deal
#7
any one know if this will work on backtrack 3

As bearman says, the cheapest is actually £11.07 as you have to take P&P into consideration. Of course it is this price if you order over 50quid. Perhaps the title or initial post should change to reflect this?
Belkin is still cheaper for me, I use it and it works sweet.

You shouldn't have any problems with that as RT2500 has very good support under linux. It works in monitor mode with no problems
#15
Where is this used or rather does this replace the traditional wireless router?

does anyone know if this works with Windows 2003 Server standard edition

Have a non essential server to put on the wireless

So basically you have to have your PC switched on to use the laptop wireless feature, is this right?

I bought windows Vista 64but aprox 18 months ago and uninstalled it down to the fact i could not for love nor money find a wireless adapter that would work.
Belkin still dont seem to really support it, this little item may just do the trick, and for £11, its a decent spare if it dont!

Many thanks

belkin is unreliable rubbish it seems, soooo many bad reviews but hardly any for this one

I havent had any problems with Belkin in fact their tech support is superb they even help with third party hardware if trying to connect a Belkin item to it. They are really knowledgeable guys. Compare that to Orange tech support which is absolutely abysmal. I digress - has anyone had problems with Belkin and if so what with?

So you don't have any experience with Belkin products? i.e you say 'it seems' and refer to bad reviews. It's not really a good idea to rubbish a manufacturer/product based on hearsay.

Belkin is ***** my usb dongle died, for no reason. And now I'll buy this :)

yes i said it seems as i have not had personal experience, but thankfully i read alot of reviews before buying one so i steered well clear of the belkin as the majority of peoples experiences were very negative and got this plexus instead which has lots of good reviews. i know it may seem crazy to you to base my buying decisions on others experiences, these review things are just crazy hey! plus the fact all the belkin components i have bought before have lasted less time than a 16 year old virgin in bed with cameron diaz. i guess i could always waste £10 buying a belkin and add to the bad reviews :whistling:
