Reply back saying you have spoken to Stelrad, i guess it was a clearance price like the cheap boiler i recently posted, some people did get hold of some
My order was also cancelled.
Thanks for posting. Has anyone managed to get these? I had an email from plumb center saying the following:

I have checked to see if we have any availability at all other branches or at our distribution centers but they also do not have stock of this item.

I have also contacted the manufacturer for this item who have confirmed that this item is no longer in production with no replacement or alternative they could advise.

This is a blatant lie as I have spoke to stelrad who have said this is not the case. I'd be interested to see how others got on?
Thanks for this post. I needed a much bigger one so got a 600x1600 for just £55. Excellent.
mikes123
Unless you have a trade account with Plumbcenter you will find most prices are very expensive. These rads might seem cheap but if you buy anything else check the prices first.

Good advice m8, i thats why i only listed those 3 sizes as they are very cheap compared to elsewhere

I currently have a British Gas Model UP2 Timer installed with a gravity fed system.

Will this work as a replacement?

What is the added value of this over my current model?

There is apparently contradictory advise above (or I have misunderstood) that this does not work with a gravity fed system and then other saying that this does not work with a combi.

Please clarify if this does work with a Combi?
Will it be a simple straight swap?
What would be the added benefit?

NB, currently I have a wired room temperature thermostat.

Thanks for your anticipated feedback.

I haven't got a clue about this type of thing. All I know is we can't control our Worcester Combi boiler by thermostat...
Can I connect this to my boiler? There are some diagrams on the last page of the manual - is this how to connect it to the boiler?
Any help greatly appreciated!

I can't vouch for which page but your manual will show you which terminals to connect to inside the boiler.
sunil237
would this not work for combi at all?

yes.

Superb piece of kit and comes with 2 3.0A batteries. £10 more but so worth it, and then some.

42nm torque and canister motor (not sure what that means)

Personally I would be looking between the milwaukee and makita, and you really need to decide which brand you are buying into, as you may want to buy more kit and it will need to be the same brand else you just wasted a bunch of money duplicating battery and charger etc.

For me the makita would be the tool of choice, not because either are much better than the other, but because I am more likely to see a deal on other makita kit I think. Both are excellent bits of kit.

Hot from me and I might have been tempted, but kitchen does not have a door on it and the nearest smoke alarm is just outside in the hallway anyway.
Wonder if this would let you know if you forget to turn off the oven/rings on the cooker?
No it wouldnt.
It detects the rate of rise from base temperature.
Heaters or hobs etc wouldnt trigger as gradual increase in temp.
This is looking for a sharp increase as would be seen in a fire.
Ok that's a shame as was hoping it may work if you left cooker on for several hours after forgetting to turn it off.
Get a smart meter or clip on energy monitor. Most display a green, orange or red led depending on whats on.

Ours is really eye catching and if its not green it gets your mind going what might be on.
The Google Nest Protect one's are really good, they have 4 different types of sensors but it tailors them according to where they are installed. They also work alongside a nest thermostat as the occupancy sensor inside tells the thermostat if anyone's home.
They even alert you when away from the home via smartphone.

cheers for this... had the fire department install a few of these a few years ago and they're starting to run out. Will be handy not to have to remove the plates to fit something else.

Just use strong sticky pads
Yeah because the fire service isn't having anything like serious funding reductions now is it!!

But hey you carry on being selfish to save a few bob and the rest of us will leave those services for people who don't have any other option and actually really need the help!!!

I'm alright jack pull up the ladder !!!

correct but im a leech for getting a full fire check of my home and a free fire alarm
some people really are stupid :D

I think that service is best left for older or disabled people who might be housebound or confused/worried about the vast choice of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms available, the visit from the fire service will put their mind at ease that they have the correct alarms installed by professionals.
Younger able bodied people shouldn't be using this service to save a few quid imho, if everyone in the uk did this the fire service simply wouldn't be able to cope!
Don't be a tight ass and buy your own fire alarms and leave the free fire alarms and safety check for the people who actually need it!!

unless you live by yourself and work for the intelligence agency or some kind of improv social butterfly I very much doubt you have a need to change your heating settings on a daily or even hourly basis. it's a gimmick.
And if you live in an older house.. letting it get freezing cold when you aren't around leaves you with a damp house.

thats why this 7 day programmable thermostat is what you need.

wong_go_wild
actually, do you really need a heating control that can be controlled remotely? and do you really want a heating control that talks to the rest of the world and can be easily controlled by hackers to run their botnet.
I certainly don't. Hive Nest etc are based on the same fundamental technology as these units and only has a cpu that's more powerful and some ram that makes them store more information and a wireless connection. so it's not going back in time as much as buying a car without all the added options. I am always in the philosophy of keeping things simple when it comes to switches. the more complex you make it the more likely it will break. ESP for these critical elements.

Having experienced live with and without Hive, I'd say yes I'd much rather have the remote option than not. I tend to keep the heating off as much as possible so this allows me to ramp up the temp just before getting home so we don't come back to a freezing house.

There's only so much you can worry about security, I'd be more worried about no-name wireless IP cameras and such like that will never be updated or supported past the first few months. Not that worried about botnets that's a problem for Hive and your ISP, as long as they are not infiltrating the rest of your network. Unlike a car to the Hive, the worst hackers can do is turn off your heating or put it to max.

As for reliability, Hive will be no more or less reliable than a traditional set up - if you lose your network/internet connection, the programme stays intact and you can still control it from the thermostat directly. If you lose any other components, it'll be the same as losing the receiver/thermostat on the Honeywell.

Went for this along with a 4 pack hr92 from Jtm, can't wait to get it installed...cheers guys..
cheers, I've checked and it is the newer Wi-Fi model..seems a great deal..
Reminder: make sure you turn off the electricity supply to the BDR91 if you are going to swap it out for the new one.
I'm sure you knew this anyway, but it's easy to forget the basics when you've got new gadgets to play with!
Just wanted to clarify: I used my old BDR91 that came with my CM927 and had no issues. Yours should be the same.
If you want to use the new BDR91, the back plates are the same so the new BDR91 just clips into the old backplate. Look for the little screw on the bottom of the BDR91, the install docs do show this quite well.
Hi, you can use the same BDR91. Just need to clear the old pairing and then pair the BDR91 with the new stat.

I also had a CM927 and changed it to a ATP921R3100. Makes the install a lot simpler!

Anyone else found the home/away thing via mobile phones hopelessly unreliable?
Nope in fact found it rather good, we have 2 mobiles using location so when I am away but the missus is home it's fine, mind you maybe the x2 next protects are helping the situation with the motion sensing.
Think I'm going to have to reset it, rang their helpline and it seemed to contradict the information on the site.
The site suggests that using your phones, it should work straight away due to location services, whereas if you don't use phones, it has to learn your habbits. the lady on the helpline suggested that it needed time to learn.
It's been two weeks now, I've added a schedule and once or twice (from looking on the history) us being out of the house has prevented the heating coming on.
Could be my misunderstanding, but it doesn't seem to swap to 'Away' when we're both at work. Does it only swap if the heating is due to be on at that time?

I leave ours set to heat all the time, never set to off, it appears to set to away itself when we are both out but I have only looked once (or should I say noticed once) will try look when the missus is next out.
I would hope that if we was both out that the motion sensors in the thermostat and the protects would keep the heating on if someone was at home. (kids etc) (assuming we wanted it on- we just leave set to 21c most of the time and up it to 22 on the odd evening if feeling the cold)
OST10 works, but FIRSTSHOP20 doesn't

...they also charge 20pence per transaction. A thing that no other card reader does.
The 20p charge only applies to transactions where you swipe a card, as opposed to Contactless or Chip & Pin.

"Pay once for your card reader and from 2.75% to as low as 1.9% + 20p per Chip & PIN or contactless transaction."

UPDATE: The Toaster you will get is the Vario model not the New Gen - this was a mistake on their website. Doesn't bother me, looks the same and still makes toast :-)
I was told that I would still get it at the reduced price once they are back in stock..... remains to be seen.
Just received an email saying it's out of stock with an estimated lead time of 3 weeks. It's still up for sale on the site, albeit at £162 though.
Got mine from Costco ten years ago. Can't remember the price. Timer went after 5 years and cost £10 to replace (which was easy cos all the parts disconnect and unscrew). Frankly it's a lot for a toaster but I like it, I like toast, and I can afford it. If none of these apply - don't buy it.
Excellent price. Thanks, ordered.

I need to re paint all of my radiators but they are electric. Can I use this product on them?

Is this touch up paint colour a standard colour? Might be worth keeping fit the future

This is only 12ml of paint so ideal for chips and touching up I wouldn't use it to paint a whole radiator. Look to get a primer for an undercoat and then you could use any number of paints for the top coat
