Yeah good one, if you can find it just for a few pounds more why dont you give an example! Its the cheapest on the net for a kickoff minus the quidco its an amazing deal. Dont just vote cold because of your circumstances this is a public portal and for those that do not download as much as you should have the benefit of this deal.

It's not that geat a deal for people who use the PC a lot.
The 2gb will quickly go .It's around 66mb a day.
Just a few hours casual surfing will eat 66mb up and don't even think about any major downloads in daytime.
For people who use their PC now and again, then it's a good deal.

you mean people who use now and never!

2gb is nothing! Even my wife could break this limit!

Cold. I used to be with Plusnet years ago, but they were taken over, and have turned very poor since. Basically, they';ve shifted their customer focus from the tech-savvy crowd of before to more the AOL-buying old granny crowd that don';t really understand what they're buying, so long as it's cheap. Unfortunately, and as this Quidco boost alludes to, they desperately want to grab as many grannies as possible, because they're the sort of conscious-less buttmunchers who think nothing of ripping them off.

I think the O2 deal is better. Admittedly it's based on you having an O2 mobile, but with that, you get 8Mb down and 1.3Mb up for £7.34 a month, £24 Quidco and unlimited downloads. Can't fault it really.

I just asked the wife to change her PAYG phone to O2 for which she got extra calls for porting her number over as well.

Avoid - Plusnet used to be good but have been taken over. I moved to Sky and their service is excellent.

VALUE is what most people are on this site for, oftren that means low cost, but that's not all there is.

For one thing... you just CAN NOT rely on Quidco... I had problems with getting it to validate when I went to Bethere, and it soon rubs home that as good as Quidco is, it is NOT that reliable, just a bonus if it works.

This ISP is widely regarded as a pain, whatever the price.

O2 is cheap, this HAS to be at the top of the page for investigating if it suits the person wanting a new ISP, Quidco offers too. I use Bethere which is the same network, but dearer (different options, my needs are not the same, so it suits me) and therefore not comparable in this sort of situation; but for purely low cost, the O2 setup has to be at the top if the page for possible ISPs for anyone looking.
If you are an O2 customer, it beats your deal into the ground @£7.34, if not, then it still may well be a better option, even at just over £12 a month. This is for 8Gb, effectively unlimited too, not for very restricted conditions.
Quidco is available at £25 too, so that lowers costs, IF it tracks OK!
Sadly, if you are not on their enabled exchanges, it is a bit too expensive, so not for everyone.

If you are wise, cost is NOT the only thing when looking for an ISP, reliability and performance figure more highly in the equation than with some services! It is VALUE that is the overall decision maker, as should be the case for almost all deals on this site. Value is a lot more complicated that just low cost, but if the circumstances fit, and they will for a good number of uses, then what I have suggested is a far better price too!

Let me tell you something bro, I was with Plusnet sometime back, and I won't recommend them to anyone for various reasons.

1. Their traffic shaping/ peak off peak timings are ridiculous, you can't really use the internet between 4.30pm till midnight, what I'm supposed to with my pc during thsese times then...peak time is where almost every one uses internet, whats the point in surifing n downloading at 1am in the morning,

2. The modem they are giving is BT voyager which is like the worst modem avilable in the market, even BT is not using that. It gets so warm and you'll have to restart it every now n then. Even when you switch on the pc in the morning sometimes this buddy goes mad. I used to restart the modem first thing in the morning to get it moving...how bad is that .

3. Their download limits doesn't make any sense, even if you don't use it for streaming or any big downloads the caps they are offering is ****.

4. Plusnet is actually owned by BT. and you know how BT operates. its a scam.

5. The offer you'r talking, is not really a good one, if you sign up with O2 for their premium package now with three monts free and quidco cash back it only costs you £5.50 a month with a free proper Thompsun wireless modem and a TOLL free line for customer care. plus 200 web texts a month. and as far as I know they activate the service with one week, most of the other ISP'S takes a min 2 wks.

6. And if you don't want to go with O2 sky has got a better deal as well mate.

I have been using PlusNet broadband for almost 3 years and have to say that they are really good. The technical support is very good (far better than most of the others I have experience of) and general customer service is very good too. They are one of the few ISPs who move existing customers onto better packages for no extra charge as they become available. For example I originally signed up to a 2mbps package but was upgraded to 8mbps, and ADSL2 at no extra cost and without even having to ask for it!
I have recommended family and friends to join also, and now know of 8 different families in a very spread out area all happily using Plusnet without any problem at all.
As for 2Gb download limit not going far over a month I have to disagree - personally I use the internet a lot (too much I have been told) and download music, programs updates etc and consider myself to use it fairly heavily, and yet rarely reach even 3Gb. 2Gb is plenty for the majority of people unless they want to download films etc.
I know you can get cheaper deals out there but you do get what you pay for people!

lol...3gb a day is NOT a heavy user, could use that in less than 1 hour.......im a heavy user and get nearer 100gb a day...downloads, streaming, etc soon adds up

Yes, you can pay LESS for more, using the Quidco offer with 02 (as in the example of the original post) it can get you UNLIMITED, no traffic shaping broadband for equivalent to £10 a month even if you DO NOT have O2 mobile, and something just over £5 a month if you do use them!

Believe me, you are NOT using the internet a lot... I actually laughed at your post I am afraid - you do not even come close to using a lot! You are a VERY light user!

I, and a host of others can easily use 2 Gb in a day some days before even getting out of bed, and that is NOT an exaggeration!

I disagree with that, Plusnet insist that all contact with them should be done through the online "help system", which is of course pointless if you have no connection. Phoning them will result in very very long sessions on hold waiting to speak to a human, my average wait has been 45 minutes on the phone. Pathetic.

Ridiculous claim, to stay within your 3gb limit users would need to be the lightest of light users, I easily use half a GB every day just surfing and emailing, NO downloading of videos/programs.

Plusnet may not be the worst ISP there is available, they ain't the best either by a long way, but anyway this is not a good deal at all.

Well said, everyone on these sites are bias anyway because they will mostly be heavy users! I used this deal for my grand parents and think its a great deal for the light user! But now its cold and nobody will see it. Everyone is so narrow minded on this sites - think of others for once not just your own situation gad!

Plus lots of people are not with o2 (e.g. me!) so its much more expensive

WHY is it good when you can beat or equal the price, for a better service without any restrictions?

WHOEVER it is for.

No... it is coppers more expensive.. you work out the cost for Quidco... so if yo do the same for O2, it works out at 10 quid a month... pennies more!

Lousy company.

Lousy internet service.

Lousy customer servie.

Kept charging my bank multiple times each month, even after I left they took two payments for three months, then after I sorted that - they then restarted the standing order again which I never noticed as I was out the UK.

If they offered internet for 1p a year I would not go near them - as they just took money randomly from my account - then left me with the hassle of trying to get it back.

Dont risk it - they are just not worth the bother,

Great company, although I am on an old skool product
PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 3
which allows unlimited downloads (from midnight to 4pm)
Speeds and service have always been good for me.

It strikes me that a user who can make do with a 2gig limit really won't get the best from an 8meg connection. As has been said this deal would be OK for a casual surfer, who rarely sends emails with attachments, downloads the odd record, never... NEVER visits sites like pootube... So why on earth 8 meg?!?

I've been on a 2meg connection and that's plenty for surfing.

As has also been said, Quidco is great if it comes through. But it is merely a bonus - a very nice one - and can't bee relied on 100% of the time.

Sorry but I'll be on the cold voters side on this one!

I didn't say it beats the price, I said it costs only pennies more... for a MUCH better service, and much better throughput and much better reliability. It's called VALUE.

Value that clearly large COLD VOTNG numbers of people on this site can see as plain as day, value being one of the main things people want when they come looking at threads on this site in the first place.

Now instead of making relevant points, you now want to engage in childish name calling games, it comes as little surprise, so go do it to someone else as I have added you to my ignore list . If you have such poor appreciation of the functioning of this site, then I am clearly not going to find anything you say that will be of any use to me in future, so it will simply save time for everyone when reading and writing on threads.

For the hard of Understanding:
Now this means that NOTHING you say from this moment on will get to me, and if you take your vexation out of abusing me, (as often happens) then the moderator will resolve that very quickly, and I won't even know it has happened! End result, I am very happy, and the site gets less clogged with useless content, and continues to be used properly for people looking for good deals and bargains :-)

***************IGNORE REMINDER************************
Because of a quote in a recent thread, it has come to my attention that some people continue to chat away to me, and have clearly forgotten that I have IGNORED them! For the short of memory, if I have IGNORED you in the past, your are STILL ignored: I am not listening - you are just talking to yourself! :-)

I said policies, plenty of ex plusnet customers will remember ther complicated fair use policies which changed regularly despite being sold an unlimited product. I'm sure it's much worse now they're owned by BT!

O2 broadband is on a 12 month contract and you are getting the first 3 month free.

Premium (up to 20 Meg download speed) = £14.68 per month for non O2 customers

- £14.68 x 9 month = £132.12
- £132.12 / 12 = average of £11.01 per month

So £11.01 per month for O2 premium for non O2 customers also with £25 Quidco (used to be £70). If Quidco tracks, as a non O2 customer you are paying on average £8.93 per month..

I am aware that O2 is not available in a lot of areas but the service I have received since signing up has been great.

For those who are concerned about service, support, speed & value levels by 3rd party opinions & need some help on deciding/choosing an ISP.

Go to http://www.ispreview.co.uk/review/products/244.html to check Plusnet product rating for more info.

This page displays the best fifty land-line (fixed-line) broadband providers in the UK, as voted by readers of ISPreview.

Be aware, you are signing up to a contract over a period of time but take note on the service levels. People always jump on the bandwagon & expect cheap prices all the time but at what cost over the contract period.

Plusnet package is ideal for low users & infrequent use so gauge your monthly allowance & usage before signing up to a contract. If your needs have changed then get in touch with Plusnet to increase your package.

I don't need to look at ANY info for knowledge of Plusnet, the experience of a friend means I would sooner go back to BT than look at Plusnet - and that is quite some statement!

Fortunately he is now free from them.

Remember whether a review is good or bad, if it is a PAID for review, or a review in a moderated environment, then dont' trust it witha bargepole, and talk to the "victims!"

As it happens, there seems to be a few victims on that site too!

o2, it's £7.50 per month (Unlimited download, at 8 Mbits) for o2 customers, this can be PAYG (so that's another £10 every 3 months) and you get £70 quidco, so definately cheaper than and better than plusnest, and o2 is an 0800 for Customer Service.

i would be careful of any review and treat it as a guide.....some daft people think that WHICH? are a good source....whereas people like me use their brains...the WHICH? scoring mechanism is laughable....as an example my friend said that which rated his tv highly....then i pointed out that as only 40% of the mark is attributed to the picture you could feasbily get a tv with virtually no picture in their best buy awards (most best buys were 60-70%), they even gave 10% to ease of use (its a tv not the space shuttle!!) and marked down the pioneer kuro because its use more power than lcd's as its plasma (no it doesnt thats a myth) and its remote was heavy (ah diddums, go to a gym) dur...lol!!

Signed up the base package for my folks for £9.75 a month. It was by far the cheapest package I could get baring in mind they're really only needing a low usage service. I would have gone with Sky or O2 but neither offer a service in our area. Had no problems so far apart from the Quidco not tracking. Hot from me.
