Plusnet broadband £3.98 a month (4 months free)

********* £28 QUIDCO ALSO AVAILABLE ********

If you're in the right area, Plusnets Value package is likely to be the cheapest option. It usually costs £5.99/month on a 12 month contract but until 31st March it's possible to get 4 months free, bringing the effective cost down to £4/month.

To get this deal, you have to go via the link and enter code '4monthsBB' in to the box on the checkout page. If you don't use the code or the special link you won't get it, so be careful when ordering.

The package has a 10GB monthly download & upload limit, but this is only enforced in the daytime hours; you get unlimited downloads from Midnight to 8am. Go over the daytime allowance and it'll cost you £2 for 2GB.

Get 10mb broadband for a year for under £20
£5.99 x 8 months = £47.92
- £28 quidco = £19.92

Even without quidco it will only cost £3.98 @ month given the 4 free months

OK if you don't watch online tv or gaming. Still think the O2 deal is better, It's unlimited download 24/7, and £2.50 per month after Topcashback/Quidco (has been posted but can't find the link, just go through Topcashback to the O2 web site)

O2 deal is only worth it if you're in an unbundled exchange area. Otherwise, avoid them like the plague. Their evening and weekend speeds are atrocious.

PlusNet on the other hand are very, very good. Admittedly this deal/tariff may not be suitable for everyone but they are so much better than O2.

Not every deal will suit everyone. It's just a case of finding the best deal for you

A word of caution. When I was considering this I found that if you went through Quidco, you could not use any other deal (like 4monthsbb) or you'd lose the Quidco rebate.
This is so cheap, I've sometimes considered it for my second phone line, just to see exactly how it stacks up against BT. I'd love to hear the less usual horror stories (from actual signed up users! not hearsay)

They are BT owned.

What does "unbundled" mean. I have o2 with no speed issues but not sure if I'm unbundled or bundled.

You most likely have unbundled. Means they can put their own equipment in the exchange rather than use the rubish BT rent out to ISP'S

I use them and my 8mb connecting is very good (about 5mbs actual). Can stream two xbox live/sky player feeds at once no problem. You have the option to disable connection if you exceed your allowance (which is a good thing, better than racking up additional charges instead). Although they don't do unlimited usage anymore, which is a shame.

was with Force9 (bought by PlusNet - then bought by BT) for over 12 years, only two days downtime in all those years, recently left to get an all in one package, and may regret it :)

Fantastic service over the time.

I use their expensive 'pro' service. I've had problems and their customer service so far has been atrocious. I'm off as soon as the year is up. I was previously with BT and assumed that I would get the same speed after a couple of weeks but Plusnet is much slower.

They used to be excellent - I know of many people using them who have had good service in the past. Not any more!

Another issue has been their telephone billing - I have been overcharged in different ways each month so far. They make me angry just thinking about them!

(And BTW Quidco didn't track for me).

Check their forum to see how many others share my frustration.

This plusnet deal is only for unbundled exchanges too.

Avoid O2 Access as said above.

LLU is OK just not Access.

You have been warned.

Been with Plusnet now for about 12 months. No problems whatsoever.Good service from day one.
Recommend a friend and they give you 25p off your monthly payment, 2 friends 2 x 25p off and so on.

I upgraded to the 'Pro'20mb' package last month and now get 2x's slower speeds than I did with the '8mb' package, considering the Pro is thier "flagship" package I think it's shocking.

And lets not even get started with customer support, only useful if you speak Punjabi.

BE WARNED:
- PLUSNET CUSTOMER SERVICES AND TECHNICAL SERVICES ARE THE WORST YOU WILL EVER EXPERIENCE.
- I USED TO BE WITH O2 AND ACHIEVED SPEEDS OF 4.1Mbps to 5.1Mbps CONSISTENTLY.
- WITH PLUSNET, MY BEST SPEED HAS BEEN 1 Mbps and for the last week has been 180 Kbps. :w00t:, I repeat 180 Kbps.
- PLUSNET WON'T LET ME DISCONNECT UNLESS I PAY THEM £72 EARLY DISCONNECTION FEE.
- APPARENTLY IF THEY DELIVER SPEEDS ABOVE 256Kbps, THEY ARE DELIVERING BROADBAND SPEEDS, :w00t:
- THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN GIVING ME SPEEDS LOWER THAN THIS FOR A WEEK, DOESN'T MEAN A THING TO THEM. THEY STILL WANT TO CHARGE ME THESE FEES.
- THEY WON'T SEND A BT ENGINEER ROUND, UNLESS I AGREE TO PAY £144 BT FEES, IF THEY FIND NO FAULT.
- ALTHOUGH I AGREED TO DO THIS (UNDER DURESS), IT HAS BEEN FOUR DAYS AND STILL NO SIGN OF THE BT ENGINEER.
- A FRIEND OF MINE WHO LIVES IN AN EXCHANGE DIFFERENT TO MINE GETS SPEEDS OF 300Kbps, :w00t:

BE WARNED, THEY ARE RUBBISH, BECAUSE THEY ARE OWNED BY BT AND THEIR SERVICES IS PROVIDED ACROSS POOR BT EQUIPMENT.

Please don't shout so loudly - it hurts my eyes. Agree though Plusnet one to avoid if you value your sanity.

My apologies to all for shouting. However, I have been so frustrated by the complete lack of service from these people, I just did not want anyone else to suffer the same fate.

Please I beg you all, avoid PlusNet like the plague, they are absolutely the worst ever company, even worse then Setanta and that is truly saying something.

They had better be a good friend as they will lose the Quidco cashback if they show you as having recommended Plusnet.

How to find if I am in a unbundled exchange area?
I have been with Sky for over 2 years, but last 2 months my broadband has been very slow, eventough I have been in the same Unlimited package (£15/mth).
I am thinking of moving to O2, as being the O2 customer I can get discounted price.

Just go to here https://www.o2broadband.o2.co.uk/getBroadband.do and it will say what you can have, Access is the bundled package all the others are LLU so unbundled so it is those options that you want to see.

is this still going or is it expired?
#22
Excuse tardiness . It's still going (except they now want £25 upfront to "activate broadband").

Yeah, right! Count me out.
#23
