My broadband subscription finished and I used the plusnet LIVECHAT tab on the side to say I wanted to switch to other broadband provider as they provide better value for money. The price can be knock down even more by £1.25pcm if you got someone (Plusnet subscriber) that referred you.

They counter offer with £7.50pcm for unlimited fibre broadband with download up to 38Mbps.
Hence 18months =£135

If pay annual telephone line subscription = £185.88 for 12 months paid in advance. Equivalent to £15.49 per month line rental

otherwise tel line is £17.99pcm

Also try to negotiate and
they will throw in installation/activation for FREE +
Plusnet Hub One router for FREE

Hence if you count it as 12months Plusnet (£275.88)
compared to Virgin Media 12months (£283)
BT Fibreoptic (£397)

My contract with BT is nearly up and I'm considering Plusnet. Not sure what to do. Price wise is good but I need stable Internet for work.

It uses BT line I think. So if you were happy with BT, Plusnet should work the same.

I would say this isn't a bad deal, but with all the issues I had with my speed dropping to 0.1mbps and they had no Idea what was wrong I can't recommend this company to anyone. I can only get plusnet, bt and sky in my area. I'm with BT now with no issues and considering plusnet and BT are pretty much the same company it boggles my mind why plusnet is such a failure in comparison.

Suppose it depends where you live but in the center of Oxford I have not noticed any difference after switching from BT last year to plusnet, hope thats helpful.

† Fibre broadband speed is described as 'up to' because your actual download speeds will vary. We'll give you the best download speed available on your line, with up to 76Mb download speed and 19Mb upload speeds on Unlimited Fibre Extra, and up to 38Mb download speed and 1.9Mb upload speeds on Unlimited Fibre. This is dependent on your location, phone line, home wiring and time of day. We'll provide you with a speed estimate when you check availability of our products. Find out why speeds vary.

PN hold my record for longest time in a queue - 94 minutes and then they hung up on me.

3 days to sort out a stupid error they had made on a new line (not mine - wouldnt touch them with a barge pole).

If you have a BT line, you can usually get a whole range of ISP providers, there are only a few places where BT have an almost total monopoly (and of course Hull, where KCOM have a monopoly).

Have a look at ispreview and the Top 10 ISPs as reviewed by their customers.

Note, you wont find ANY of the big names on that list.

I have been with Plusnet for two years. They are excellent. Never had any problems.

Plus Net Customer service is by far the worst I have experienced. Ring at 8am when the lines open and you get the message "Because of high call volume, our current wait time is approaching 45mins" ... Ring midday - Same message. Ring at 8:50pm (10 mins before the phone line closes) and guess what... Same message.

There online live chat is terrible too - 9/10 conversations will end in "we cannot help in live chat, please ...."

I too have held for over 60 minutes before now and not been spoken too as a result of being cut off.

I am currently in the middle of a CISAS dispute with them, trying to get out of the remaining 12 months of my contract as the fibre is terrible in my area. Went from regular Sky Broadband to Plusnet Fibre and the performance is worse. they have changed my "connection line" 4 times in 5 months and each time it doesn't improve in the slightest. I literally have no internet as a result of swapping to plusnet from Sky and through email contact they are refusing to help, which is why I have raised a case through CISAS and sent videos of the buffering issues I have, aswell as having to disconnect every device from the router in the morning and reconnect it to get a signal. I have cancelled my Netflix subscription as I can stream ZILCH in my home. Tried to watch 1 episode of 60 days in jail last night, 41 minutes long, and for the sake of providing evidence I has to endure constant buffering issues and finished the episode in a total of 2hours and 47 mins.

And to top all of this off, in the space of 5 months I have had 3 emails directed at other customers sent to me, giving me the customers personal details. And 1 email from a customer saying that Plusnet has provided them with my personal details.

If I could help anyone here, my advice would be - totally avoid this sham of a company if you want to avoid any of the above.

We are with Plusnet and have always had good service until recently, the wait times have gone from 15-20 minutes to over 45 minutes, sending an enquiry via twitter is pointless they just say open a ticket online, which takes them an age to answer. Customer support staff were up until to recently very polite and helpful, but when you get through now they are rude and abrupt.

Plusnet have been have been part of BT for about 10 years we have been with them for about 3 years after Sky took over O2 Broadband. We renewed our contract and have about 12 months left (of an 18 month contract) and will be leaving as soon as we can even if it costs us more.

TrustPilot reviews for Plusnet show a 79.4% 1* rating Click Here for more information.

Heat from me. I've been with plusnet for almost a year and very happy. I certainly wouldn't be without Fibre BB now. I had one issue with a static IP at the very beginning, but was sorted within a 3 minute phone call.

been with plusnet for about 4 years. excellent service and 70mbps download speeds.credit where credit is due.

I've been with plusnet since 2008 and to be honest it hasn't been plain sailing. It's seems worse in the last few years and I agree with the support is pretty poor now. What's worse that really annoys me is when I went onto fibre broadband I got 36mb download, then it dropped to about 18mb I then complained and it went up to 36mb again. The last few weeks it's down to about 20mb so looks like another phone call. Although they say they don't throttle back I don't believe them as why does it improve when I have a moan? Probably move when contract up. Cold

I really can't believe I am reading of this offer, less than 24 hours after they denied my attempt to renew my contract. I have been with them for 4 years. My contract runs out this month and despite 2 telephone calls to them, they refused point blank to let me have the promoted £18 per month BB and landline deal yesterday as 'its for new customers only' Are they nuts? I have just pressed the button to join Talk Talk ( I know there are some horror stories about them too), but this is unbelievable.

PlusNet terrible. Crap customer service, idiotic rude CTO (thinks its ok to insult/send rude twitter messages), kept blaming openreach for issues that were down to their administration. Cold.
