Their CS phoneline queue is usually busy, and apparently no call back or queue positioning system in place, which is one of the main reason I left them a year ago. Not sure if this has been improved?

I can confirm that it has not... HORRIBLE experience when trying to call them...

Going to cancel with these guys. Been with them on a 2 yr contract. Absolute shocking CS.

Left Sky fibre to join plusnet fibre @ £7 a month... Honestly, HONESTLY the worst change over of a utility provider I have ever had.

Long story short - Was getting speeds less than regular broadband. Emailed customer services and not getting responses for 3-4 days at a time. Phoning, I never EVER got through to anyone after no less than holding for am hour at a time.
Only got a response when emailing the CEO directly and threatening the ombudsman.

Even then it was - We will monitor your speeds for 2 weeks. Try a new router for 2 weeks... We will monitor your speeds with the new router for 2 weeks. EVERYTIME making out that I was incorrect.

After a further SIX weeks monitoring, without an engineers visit they realised that I was on a heavily traffic'd line and swapped me over and hey presto, we now have fibre.

But it took 14 weeks of an 18 month contract to diagnose... AND they refused to refund me the 14 weeks of limited/no net coverage.

Im still trying to get out now, but if someone was to ask me the I would HEAVILY advisr against ever switching to Plusnet.

My Fibre deal with Talk Talk is up next month - going to give them a months notice and get my MAC code this week.

Which provider would you recommend - I'm fed up with far lower than advertised speeds, and repeated drops in service.

I can't wait for my contract to expire with plusnet. I enjoyed the first 16 months with zero problems however the past 1 & 3/4 months have been a disaster.

I had huge packet loss (>90%) for 2 weeks which made gaming, streaming & even browsing unbearable.

Upload and download speeds have dropped considerably from what I had for the first 16 months, then they told me that I'm currently receiving "the absolute maximum" that my "line can handle" - even though I told them numerous times that I used to get much better speeds with them but they refuse to listen.

Be careful when considering plusnet because with some of their packages for new customers, they now limit the upload speeds up to 2mbps where before it was up to 19mbps. This will not matter to everyone but anyone creating content for YouTube, twitch, etc may struggle.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I left them for SSE and Im happy so far

I'm starting to experience the congestion on their network. I don't think they can keep up with the demand and seem to be cramming as many people as possible onto their already stretched network.

Time to abandon ship I think. Unfortunately there's not exactly any alternative once you rule out Virgin Media who don't have faith in their network during peak times either.

I agree there customer service is absolutely shocking BUT there is nothing wrong with the internet service they provide. Just hope that you never have a problem otherwise it will be very painful oO

PlusNet have been fine with me for last 2 years. No broadband or phone problems and still on a good deal. Not had cause to contact Customer Service so cannot comment on that. Got fibre up to 38mb and live in village in deepest Essex rather than a city. May be why I have not seen any deterioration in broadband speeds.

Anyone looking for a. Cheap deal could try Vodafone fiber 78mb for £28pm, I switched from talk talk and I had a bumpy start as order was cancelled then took a week or 2 to put order bk through but once sorted everything was fine apart from trying to bill me the £49 connection fee but got cancelled upon calling them and they didn't charge me £6.99 router delivery, speeds are really good just a tad slower than talk talk router is gr8 apart from the Vodafone connect app won't connect to router but hay as long as the internet works it's cheaper than £40pm

I've been with them ages and last 18 months on fibre, totally reliable and no need to call support (thankfully)

as they're owned by BT would any other providers (using the BT lines) give any better service I wonder?
#19
They all use the same backhaul i believe once BT is involved

Not sure who has the best deal/service to switch to at the mo but whoever you choose there shouldn't be a need for you to request a MAC code etc now, the regs have changed to make switching easier now so in most cases the new provider handles the switch. I've just switched a relative from Talktalk to Sky (when the mse offer was on) and just ordered with sky online, they handled the switch and I didn't contact Talktalk myself at all... they sent letters etc confirming the switch/cancellation and final bill date.

Had fibre for two years now with Plusnet. No issues at all. Constant speed up and down, no disconnections, not one issue whatsoever. Only had to contact CS to negotiate contract renewal and they were fine.

removed my retention deal I got 2 years ago. I was paying this price and they doubled the cost just last week. they won't budge or apologise for the lack of a decent offer nor after I showed them this deal here!! terrible customer service. claimed they would lose money. Lose money when customers leave more like.

Customer service is a joke, swapped to them last month after a deal posted on here, constant drop outs and seriously slow connection. Won't allow me to cancel as a ticket I started just after signing up had lapsed even though I had another ticket for the same thing within the same period.

I was getting 5.5mbps with sky and just over 3 since swapping to plusnet.

Just left them after broadband being down for nearly a month (yes really) they finally fixed it then the voice line went down two days later. They were good once but their customer service is now a joke unless you like listening to hold music for 45 min to an hour.......never again.

The assessment of customer service is all relative.

Yes, Plusnet can take between 10 minutes and 90 minutes for a human being to speak on their customer service number, but when human connection is made (i) they are in this country, (ii) the phone call is free, (iii) they speak English, (iv) they do not talk from a 'tick box' prompt screen, (v) the cs operative is generally clued up. Ok, it's frustrating to be on hold for up to 90 minutes, but just put your phone on 'speaker' mode and pick up when a human being answers.

I can tell you, compared to LieLie (er, Talk Talk), Plusnet customer services is total heaven. Given all of the above, I wholeheartedly recommend Plusnet.

CS awful and have to queue everytime you phone. Always never take the blame for anything that goes wrong. Will be leaving them at end of contract as absolutely the worse BB provider i have ever used. Am even thinking of paying to leave them as it is so bad.

I got two lines, one migrated from Plusnet to Talktalk, the other one from Plusnet to SSE, both of them work great.

From the CS point of view, Talktalk has been improved a lot although it might take 7 days to fixed BT line issue. But I could tell they are willing to do things at least.

For SSE, they do implemented call back system which is a great time saver. It took a bit longer than Talktalk to fix line issue (around 10 days).

Just to point out, if any one is switching from Plusnet to other provider, remember to ask Plusnet to remove the call waiting feature or greeting feature otherwise it might stop you from migration, lol.

MAC? You've been living under a rock.
You no longer need a migration code: Just order with your new provider and they take over the line & broadband (providing they're on the same exchange - All bar Virgin pretty much)
