It seems I need to learn what 'search' means...

Nevertheless, it's still a cracking deal on portable storage four days later. :p

One thing I've always wondered about this deal...

has been developed with an innovative capless concept

So this means they don't provide a cap, right?

Not very innovative really, to not supply a cap :p

The body of the unit, the bit with the chip in, swivels round and fits into the base So, there is a cap but it doesn't come off and therefore can't be lost, so a plus rather than a minus...

Sorry - it looks like the best pic is no more than a silhouette.

These are coming down in price quite quick now, great price however I think the Sandisk Cruzer (posted on here a couple of days ago) looks miles better

This is not likefor like. If it was the Amazon price is £23.89 http://www.amazon.co.uk/PNY-Electronics-USB-STICK-USB2-0/dp/B000SACM0S/ref=pd_sbs_ce_title_26

£16.25 at 7dayShop.com:
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=102744
Postage is £3.95 but that's a one off no matter how many of these or other bits you buy.

Faster than the PNY one too at read speed of 14 MB/sec and a write speed of 8.5 MB/sec.

2% Quidco too.

Sorry, voted cold. The price is OK but the speed is slow!

Play.com 8GB USB Flash Drive - £17.99 delivered + 4% QuidCo
Read 10.5Mb/s Write 7.24Mb/s, it has also gone down to £17.49

USB 2.0 Flash / Key Drive - 8GB - Dane-Elec zLight - High Speed 173x Read! £17.49 7 day shop + 2% Quidco
Read 26Mb/s Write 7Mb/s, it is 50p more + delivery but much faster

I've got one of these USB pen drives and I have to say its got a good build quality, file transfer is fast and I reckon its good value for money. The ONLY possible negative on them is if you have 2 usb's in a laptop for example that are ABOVE each other then its a bit of a squeeze to get 2 pen drives in at once if this is one of them. Apart from that its a great piece of kit.

Sorry to disagree with you thelucster.

Thanks For This

Fancied a bigger USB flash drive for a while - had a similar designed one to this at a mere 256MB, so I'm allover this like a rash. Heat & Rep added (even though it's 4 days since it was first posted :))

I just received mine from Play this morning. Considering how much I paid for it, I'm happy with it, but the transfer rates are sloooow compared to a Sandisk Cruzer I bought a few weeks ago.

The Dane-Elec deal is a good one for a really fast USB drive. I don't see why it's at -6 degrees unless people are just looking at the capacity and not the read/write speeds.

4 mb/s write speed is soooo slow.

Good for small files. If you're transferring 700mb files .. then you'd do good to give this a miss.

Good price. But slow speed. I wouldn't consider buying a 8GB + memory stick unless it's got write speed of at least 10mb/s.

I got this one from play as well, but too slow and not readyboost compatible.
What other decent 8gb alternatives are there?

I mainly transger 700 meg movies
