I ordered too - amazing price. About half the price you would expect. Let's hope that play honour it.
#4
Seems a great deal, bought - thanks!

So where does this fit into the league table of gfx cards and what is the equivalent radeon card?
#6
It's like a GTX9800+

About the same speed as an HD 4850.
#7
Hackintosh compatible?

#8
Passively cooled?

Passively cooled?

Hello no. That's the only thing I'm concerned about - the fan on this thing looks like it could take your face off if you get too close...
#11
PNY XLR8 cards get an additional 2 years warranty if you register ithem on the PNY website. Not the fastest card out there but one hell of a card for less than £45!
#12
funnily enough the gts 250 is part of a nvidia roundup in this weeks micromart...........says its basically a rebranded 8800gt ......so 3 year odl tech
#13
am i right in saying this would be good for physx?
#14
good price, im tempted to buy one just for a physX card

heat added
#15
i still use an old 8800gt in kids pc and it plays modern warfare2 just fine ;)
#16
Don't forget this needs two 6-pin power connectors free to install - which means it's gonna cook.
#17
Very good price by the look of it. Have an 8800GT though...
If only my mobo was SLI I'd get a couple of them
#18
anyone know what this scores on the windows 7 performance tool

here's my current one

It's really a power monster in comparing to HD4850.
#21
not alot then :p

I'm tempted to get one for SLi as this price is superb. However, my current one is made by XFX... would that cause incompatibility?

i think so long as there the same version of card then make is irrelevant

The 8800GT is still a good card (MW2 @ max at 1920*1080 etc), and the GTS250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+ which was a 8800GTX, so better than a 8800GT.

Anyone want my 8800GT for £35 so I can get two of these to SLI?

my 8800GT failed so got one of these, doesnt seem to give any performance game in Source games. Would I be able to SLI this with another GTS250 card though, even if they're difference makes?
#24
my 8800gt has passive cooling and runs at 45 deg
#25
A quick search in Google shopping reveals that this card is about twice the price everywhere else. That is a superb price then 8)

I guess with a motherboard from 2006 I don't have PCI express 2.0. So, would this card be any good for me?
#26
Expired, it seems.
#27
is the deal gone?
#28
Thank god I didn't see this when it was in-stock - I'm trying to save my pennies. A cracker of a deal for those that got one.
#29
Phew, looks like I ordered it just in time! My old card stopped working the other day, had an X1950 Pro, been looking for a new card at a killer price since!
#30
I am so lucky today, really needed a graphics card and I was just in time to order unfortunantly I don't have a penny in my account at the moment but the order is taken so hopefully tomorrow I will put some money in and the order will go through :D
#31
Managed to order one, although it now shows "awaiting stock" on my order history.

Reckon they will fulfill the order?
#32
FFS I was really looking for one of these to SLI with my current...
#33
lol anyone got a confirmation letter?
#34
I'd like to know the score in windows 7 for it?
I guess its slightly better than a 9600GT because it scores 6.8 in windows experience test! Thats the same as 8800GT scores.
#35
WTF my one also says awaiting stock now, it went from Order taken to Awaiting Stock :(
#36
I may have jumped the gun and bought to of these to run in SLI mode. Been out of the gpu/gaming scene for quite sometime, can most current games take advantage of a SLI setup? i know when it was first introduced it was rather lacklustre. I currently too have the 8800GT and in the process of upgrading. My initial intention was to purchase a ASUS m4a77d mobo paired up with AMD Phenom X3 plus a Radeon 5770 or a 5830. With this buy, strikethrough for the mobo, any recommendations are most welcome for a mobo of similar price/function/features with SLI support. Or should I cancel?

Performance Tool result (sorry no screenie, doing this post on a mac)

Processor AMD Opteron 165 1.8 @ 2.3 OC - 4.9

Memory Cosair TwinxPro 2GB - 5.1

Graphics Leadtek 88800GT - 6.8

Primary HD 5.4

Not bad for a PC ive had for over 4 years (8800gt came later)
#37
I got my order in just before it was pulled, but given their track record I fully expect them to renege on this deal.

Still, worth trying anyhow. You never know.

It's quite a bit better than the 9600GT. As I said earlier, it's more on par with the 9800GTX

GT = Budget range
GTS = Mid-range
GTX = Top range

I'm pretty sure it's a renamed 9800GTX.

For those considering SLI; save yourself the hassel and don't bother.

Having run SLI 8800GTX for just over a year I have first hand experience of the world of pain reserved exclusively for sli users.
As SLI setups are a niche audience they obviously receive less thorough testing, and it shows.
The drivers are far more buggy & significantly less stable, new games frequently have SLI specific bugs, and highly variable performance benefits, and most importantly SLI chews through electricity.

Fortunately one of my 8800GTXs died, and was replaced with a GTX 260 for free.
The remaining 8800 GTX is dedicated to physx - but it really doesn't need to be, it's just wasting electricity as so few games use it.

Note this is solely in relation to Nvidia SLI, I can't comment on ATI's crossfire.

This is an awesome price. And it's nothing like an 8800GT by the the way... comparing to 'old tech' like that is just silly. The 8800GT was huge, an absolute power hog and ran at very hot temperatures. If it's comparable with anything then I'd say the 9800 GTX+. I got the 'lite' 250 from Scan around 5 months ago for ~£52, and that was a mis-price... so this is a bargain! The only game mine has struggled with was Arma 2, but that game is more CPU hungry than graphics intensive, so i don't think its the cards fault. I currently play Bad Company 2 at 1920x1080 with everything at high and it's flawless. I'm tempted to get one for SLi as this price is superb. However, my current one is made by XFX... would that cause incompatibility?

try reading what i said ........i was LITERALLY quoting micromart mag..........and i think they know more about these thing than you or i......try reading page 78 of issue 1115
