is this better than the ati hd6950?
is this better than the ati hd6950?

Probably not. But cheapest HD 6950 is about £210.
If you have money than I would go for HD 6950 and unlock it to HD 6970.

How does this compare to the 5850/ 6850?

Here is a website I use to compare, I am not a techhead, but seems like it gives you an indication of how they compare.

GTX 460 vs ATI 5850 -
Well i bought a standard PNY GTX 460 1GB from Amazon (via Ballicome) and have it overclocked to 837/1674/1890 with no issues at all and temps under heavy gaming at around 70c- i would buy a standard 460 and overclock it yourself.

In fact, i emailed PNY to ask them the exact difference between the standard PNY GTX 460 and the overclocked one sold by PNY and the answer was,"The only difference is the embedded video bios, in which the working clock frequencies of both the GPU and video memory of the O/C version are higher indeed"

You can do this overclocking yourself in seconds-Very easy to do and can save you money! Forget the GTX 560 as for the money a GTX 460 will do 90% of the same performance but is much cheaper.
very good price :)!
hmmm tempting but it would mean a return to the evil arch enemy NVIDIA!!!

As a side-note I will say that I've had numerous cards by both comapnies over many many years and the one thing I always notice without fail after switching from an NVIDIA card to an ATI card is that the on screen display quality is always better with an ATI card.

these do overclock very well and easily. If you buy 2 running them in SLI and you will have an extremely quick system -
How many amps does this need on 12v. Hopefully under 30.
Does it howl like a vaccum cleaner?
