Is this worth the upgrade from my current Sapphire ATI 4850?.
#2
Isn't this about half price?!?!?
#3
anyone think this is a mislabled GTX260?

or even gtx9800?
#4
RRP: £169.99 | You save: £25.00 (14%)

Probably. The specs of the card in no way reflects those of a GTX 285. Just looking at the memory interface and bandwidth gives it away. 256 bit and 57.6 Gb/s??? Could be a 9800 GT or even a 9600 GT.

Oh well, I've ordered 2 so if it's not the GTX 285 I'll be swiftly cancelling my order.
#7
Hmmm, oh well, ordered anyway, will see what comes of it.

the picture looks like a 9800GT, should look like this

here is the same listing, but at correct price and correct specs:

Ordered. But not expecting to get it at this price. Nowing PLAY the quidco 0.5% might payout though !
#10
I know about the spec difference and that it's quite probably a mistake, hence the comments about calling the Customer Service line who say the deal should still be honoured.

As this is my 1st post I am already baffled as it was posted an hour ago and has already marked as Expired. What's going on?

Yeah... i already posted above

You already posted a link to the full priced listing? This makes no sense.

Until anything is confirmed\changed\cancelled by Play for their possible online mistake, how can my post be matched up to one listing the item at full price.

My Post should not have Expired, I hope Play do honour the deal then who will be so smug......
#13
Check your order history, shows a 9800 as preordered not the GTX285 . . .
#14
mine too.

Education please.

Just for my peace of mind what makes a graphic card worth nigh-on £150.00

What does it enable you to do that a normal graphics card wouldn't do?

Play recent games at high resolutions (ie 1920x1200) with full antialiasing without stuttering like a yankee fool :p

Unless you are into PC gaming in a major way, a £50 card will do everythign a £300 card will apart from
1. Play recent games on high resolution LCD Monitors
2. Require you to upgrade your PSU evry time you change graphics card
3. Create a s concentrated source of high heat in your PC resulting in all your fans running at full speed
3. Cost more than you could buy a PS3 for.

dont get me wrong, they have thier place for the hardened gamer, but for general use/watching DVDs/Blue rays etc complete overkill.

IMHO obviously.

Just cancelled mine nevermind. Thanks to the original poster
#18
AHA. Thanks for that.

Guess the old Radeon will stay for while then.

Play have sent out an email saying that the listing was incorrect and the order has been cancelled. No suprise but it was worth a try. Thanks anyway to the OP.
