this was £14.99 just 2 weeks ago when i got it, then £12.99 a week ago and now £11.99. at this rate it will be free by the end of february!

whilst i've got 3gigs (a 2gig and a 1gig) in my laptop, i might just replace the 1gig with a 2gig for this money

bloody hell ram is getting cheap now days, shame most of us only have 32 bit operating systems so can only use 4gb

That was my problem I only ordered one so I'll have 3gb annoying though

as stated above, no point going for 2x2Gb sticks unless you run a 64bit OS.

I have 1gb in my laptop so might get 1x2Gb.

nice upgrade and cheap!

Depends the current configuration, though. Most laptops only have two DIMM slots and if you only have a 512MB stick or even 2x512MB sticks you may as well get 2x2GB and discard the other ones at this price, even if you'll only see around 3.5GB. Better to have ~3.5GB than 2.5GB and you'd be missing out on the slight improvement dual-channel brings.

If you have a 1GB stick then it's a little less clear cut, but £12 for the extra 512MB and to have a matching pair might swing it for some.

Hi, I have been wanting to upgrade the memory in my laptop, Ive looked into it but dont really know how it all works. I know my laptop needs 2x '1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 memory' will this product work in my laptop or do I have to get the one mentioned....

Any help will be great, thank you!!

This is DDR2 memory, you need DDR. I'm sure Play do a good deal on their DDR too, though.

If you have any concerns use the Crucial website to find out exactly what your laptop will take.

Not true, yes 3.5 will only be available at most from 4 gig but more importantly you will be running in dual channel mode 128bit using all 4 dimms if using 3 chances are unless you have one of those bioses(rare) that allow 3 gig to run in dual channel then you're in single channel mode and not getting the best performance out of your memory so best to either use 2 gig eg 2x1 gig sticks or 2x 2 gig sticks
#20
is this ok for dell mini 9? thanks
#21
Nice find, might help vista run a bit smoother! Cheers.
#22
Even on a 32-bit system, 4Gb will be better than 3 as 32-bit can detect 3.5Gb. Plus some systems will operate at a higher speed with a pair of identical sticks [Dual-DDR or some-such] which should improve your speed even more. You would probably be able to up your system to 64-bit if you wanted too, for very little outlay.

These memory sticks are the dog's danglies for running Win XP on an Eee. I've got one in my Eee701 and it goes like stink.

i asked the following in an older thread but had no answer so wonderingif someone can help now ..
"maybe a silly question but need a little advice. My system takes PC2 ram, well least thats what it states on crucial.
The ram listed here is stated as DDR2 but also as PC5300 etc.. not PC2-5300. Im a little confused... is it DDR 2 or not?"

IT says that this should work. If someone could confirm this for me I'd appreciate it. Dont want to be responsible for him getting the wrong ram

Edit on site this is what it says for your laptop

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-4200 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.*

Which is this memory

Would this be the same situtation with the desktop ram PYN do on play that has been on offer? i.e my pc states PC2- DDR2 ram, the description on play states PC ram but also states DDR2?
#39
Has anyone else noticed that the pic is showing desktop ram and not SODIMMs?
