Set for release on March 26th (thanks to Ipswich772)

They cleared a million copies in two days on release in Japan - Joystiq

Famitsu scored these at 37/40 - near perfect............

I think im officially too old to play these games

These are released two days before my lad's 7th Birthday - he and his sister are Pokemon mad, and will hopefully love these. I love the Pokemon games too (put 45 hours+ into Pokemon Diamond) so might have to get my own copy too..............

I have been avoiding using my CC at Shopto recently, after receiving a few unwanted transactions. I was pleased to see they have now switched their payments to Sagepay, which is backed by [email protected] and LloydsTSB Cardnet, so I am now happy to make pre-orders there again.

Pre-ordered. The date is wrong, but I can't wait for this.

Did you get caught with an unwanted or transaction the last time they said it wouldn't happen again? Sorry... the last time they said "it didn't happen that time" as it was nothing to do with them.

I was! My credit card details (that were only provided to ShopTo) were used to "clone" a card for subsequent use in an attempt to purchase several hundred pounds worth of foreign currency purchased in person overseas. I haven't ordered with ShopTo since. Sounds like I was right not to.

Hope you didn't lose any money.

It was the last time it "didn't happen" and it didn't happen with two of my cards - one of which had solely been used @ Shopto............biggest transaction was £560 to a Travelodge in France?! Thankfully all the transactions were stopped and the cards were cancelled.

I have only been using Paypal with Shopto since, but having seen that their card transactions are now going through Sagepay (who are endorsed by my card provider) I am willing to give them another go.............

Amazon have now put their pre-order price up to £39.99 (was £30 last night), and HMV are still pricing it at £34.99

I would get a pre-order in quick personally, as I can see the price being above £30 in most places come March

Did you ever stay up until 2am to get the special nuggets for a few hundred when you could resell in the pokemart for 5000? In the underground market.... Nope? Just me then:-D

The addition of a MOBILE PHONE was pretty cutting edge too. Oh how I loved that game until it wiped (for some reason they were notorious for wiping if left in the sun...)

What's the difference between this and the old versions, pokemon red, blue, silver etc.

Bit too much hype for some poxy child's game?
#18
Back in my day it was Pokemon Yellow :)
#19

Its a remake of the old gold/silver versions. I think a lot are getting it for nostalgia's sake.

This is probably a mis-price, and ShopTo will change the price without telling you, btw.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't ShopTo take PayPal payments as well? I would buy this but I've grown out of Pokémon and would only buy it if it came down to around £15 which happened last time with Pearl on ShopTo after six months (!).
#23
It's another remake?

When will Nintendo stop being so crap and make an original game?

Shopto take Paypal now, but not for pre-orders, so you would have to pay by card.

I imagine the price will come down on these eventually, as happens with all media products, games, DVDs and CDs, but remember that the RRP on this is above your normal DS title, because of the additional item in the pack.

I personally have no problem with Nintendo recycling some of their best games, so long as it is done well. For example, Pikmin 2 is great on Wii, with the addition of Wiimote controls, as are the first two Metroid Prime games. Pokemon games have always been variations on a formula anyway, as are many franchises. Silver/Gold are supposedly the pinnacle of Pokemon excellence, and I have never played them, neither have my kids. To get bang up to date versions of them, with great visuals, WiFi/Wireless battling and trading and a swanky new Pokewalker thingy is just great in my opinion.

If you want to see a company endlessly retreading the same path, you only need to look as far as Capcom - the Ghosts and Goblins, Resident Evil and Street Fighter(!) series are all prime examples of this. That doesn't mean that all the games in these series are bad though, in fact, you couldn't be further from the truth...................

I agree with the flaming carrot on this one. As much as I loved Pokemon Blue back in the day, to play it now just isnt the same as its old and clunky - slow! The re-released red and green version however, are fantastic and I once again collected all 150 Pokemon, but this time with better graphics and running shoes(! trust me- makes the game twice as quick).

Silver (and gold) was an excellent game as it developed so much more than the first games, to the point where it was actually more complex than the GBA Ruby/Sapphire. You can even go and do the whole Poke League from Red/Blue within Gold/Silver thanks to the train! I haven't played my DS in ages and am really tempted to get this as they were just so good the first time round, and I'm certain will have been made even better with their update.

Twin snakes is also a good example of a quality remake...
