This is the cheapest pre order price I've seen for this game and it has 9% quidco on top of that which makes it roughly £20.93. This is a really good deal.

EDIT: you can also get it for the same amount at game.co.uk BUT you will get a FREE mini figure of Giratina! It'll probably be worth something in a couple years so thats a big bonus!

if you still want to order it from gameplay go here:

Gameplay's Product info;

Pokemon Platinum for Nintendo DS features a sweeping new adventure, set in the Sinnoh region of the Pok?n world, packed with new features - such as new ways to play online at the Wi-Fi Plaza over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection and the ability to save your greatest victories in the Vs. Recorder - that will electrify fans of the Pok?n series. A brand new Distortion World, governed by neither time nor space, also emerges, which provides a whole new gameplay challenge!

The epic story of Pok?n Platinum Version revolves around the legendary Renegade Pok?n, Giratina, appearing in its new Forme, the Origin Forme. Many other Legendary Pok?n are featured and can be captured in Pok?n Platinum Version - from Dialga and Palkia, to the powerful Lake trio of Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit

Perhaps most excitingly of all, one of the rarest and most popular Pok?n, Shaymin, available only on Pok?n Diamond Version and Pok?n Pearl Version through special events* appears in a new Forme in Pok?n Platinum Version. Transfer Shaymin from your Pok?n Diamond Version or Pok?n Pearl Version game to your copy of Pok?n Platinum Version to discover the never before seen Sky Forme, with a new appearance, new attributes and special powers.

Your heroes appear in a new, special winter wardrobe in order to survive the freezing cold of wintry Sinnoh in Pok?n Platinum for Nintendo DS. As you follow the main quest to put a stop to the sinister Team Galactic, completing side missions and contests along the way, you will - of course - engage in some serious battles...

And when it comes to battling, Pok?n Platinum on DS certainly packs a punch!

Pokemon Platinum features an all-new Battle Frontier, a special building packed with challenges and tournaments, is accessible after defeating the 'Elite Four' and the Pok?n League Champion - the game's final boss Trainers - and gaining a ferry ticket to the Fight Area. Not only are the final bosses harder to beat than ever before, but once you've overcome them and entered the Battle Frontier, you'll find the fighting has only just begun! The Battle Frontier contains five different Battle facilities, with each facility awarding Battle Points that can be traded for fantastic prizes.

In addition, the Global Trade Station from Pok?n Diamond Version and Pok?n Pearl Version has been expanded and renamed the Global Terminal, where you can check out other people's battles. Battle Videos are listed by popularity, so you can easily locate great content! You can save Battle Frontier and Wi-Fi battles via the Vs. Recorder, so that you can connect with Pok?n fans around the world and interact in new ways. Re-live your victories - or use them to gloat and provoke your friends into online battle!

Pok?n Platinum for Nintendo DS is designed to make online play as simple and exciting as possible. In the basement of every Pok?n Center is a Wi-Fi Plaza where up to 20 players can connect wirelessly and play games together in real-time. As well as trading and doing battle with friends with whom you have exchanged Friend Codes, there are a number of mini-games available to play together in the Wi-Fi Club.

My daughters been playing this for the past week and says it's the same game as diamond and pearl but with differnet costumes.

If they are offering deals on pre orders then the game isn't selling very well, there will be better deals before the UK release date.

Well traditionally, the 3rd Pokemon game in a region has similar story lines but it varies slightly except for some areas where its completely different.
I've just had a look at the wikipedia entry and whats basically different is the order of the gyms, there's a colder climate so the characters have new clothes, there's a lot of new Pokemon and there's a few new Pokemon. It depends on how much your kid really wants it as it is essentially the same game but quite a few things have changed. Its perfect for those who have missed out on Pokemon pearl and diamond but I'm not too sure if your kid will want this. Tell him to read this

from wikipedia;
"Pokémon Platinum (ポケットモンスタープラチナ ,Poketto Monsutā Purachina?, "Pocket Monsters Platinum") is an enhanced remake of Diamond and Pearl[92][93][94][95][96] in the same vein as Pokémon Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald.[97] It was released on September 13, 2008 in Japan,[98][99] March 22, 2009 in North America,[100][101] and will be released in Australia and Europe on May 14, 2009[102] and May 22, 2009,[103] respectively.

The game features Giratina as its mascot and introduces its Origin Forme, as seen in Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior. Its initial form is referred to as its Altered Forme in the English localization, but originally called its Another Forme in the Japanese release.[92][104] The storyline involves a disturbance atop Mt. Coronet, as a portal to the "Distortion World"[100] is opened and Sinnoh's climate becomes colder. The trainers have been given new outfits to suit the colder climate. The Distortion World is a strange place in another dimension where normal physical laws do not apply.[105] Other changes include gameplay elements such as the order of Gyms being changed, the introduction of new reoccurring characters like Looker, and a deeper storyline involving Cyrus and Team Galactic.[106] In addition, Shaymin, which was distributed as part of admittance to the aforementioned film, has a new form known as its "Sky Forme", a dual Grass- and Flying-type Pokémon. When traded to Diamond or Pearl from Platinum, Shaymin will transform from its Sky Forme back to its regular forme or Land Forme[107] with the use of a new item in Platinum known as the Gracidea Flower.[108] When the special Regigigas that is given out with a pre-order ticket for Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Shaymin is traded from Diamond or Pearl to Platinum, it activates an event that makes Regirock, Regice, and Registeel available to catch in Platinum.[109][110] Also, five exclusive forms of Rotom were introduced.[111] Other added features include the Battle Frontier, which was first introduced in Pokémon Emerald, and appears again in Platinum with five new frontier brains; the Wi-Fi Plaza,[100] an arcade area, the player can play minigames with other people over the Wi-Fi connection.[112], and the Vs. Recorder allows players to save and replay videos of battles between friends.[113]

Pokémon Platinum sold 1 million copies in its first two days on the Japanese market.[114] According to Media Create, the game has sold 2 million copies in Japan as of December 7, 2008.[115] Thus, it is the fastest-selling Nintendo DS title as of late.[116] Pokémon Platinum is the second best-selling game of Japan in 2008, as well as the best-selling Nintendo DS game in Japan of that year, selling 2,187,337 copies.[117] On March 21, 2009, the day before the North American release of Platinum, Nintendo hosted a launch celebration at Nintendo World Store in New York. Attendees were able to demo or even purchase the game before its official release the next day.[118] In a hands-on preview of Platinum, Kat Bailey of 1UP.com praised the game's many new features as well as its improvements in interface and graphics. "Pokémon fans probably won't be found wanting with Platinum. Even after you finish up the main quest, stop messing around with the Battle Recorder, and clear out the Battle Frontier, you've still got side quests and contests to keep you busy. And once you venture back down the Pokémon rabbit hole, you won't be coming up again for a while," wrote Bailey.[111] Famitsu gave the game a score of 9/9/9/9 for a total of 36 points. "From the new story elements to the addition of the Battle Frontier, there's a ton of neat stuff, and you're getting a lot for your money here," they remarked.[99] IGN gave the game an 8.8 out of 10 saying it was easily the definitive version but it was difficult to praise a two-year-old game.[11"

Also to the person who said its the same, it isn't completely the same and Pokemon games normally stay at a high price at a high street price but there normally around £5 cheaper on sites like gameplay.com because they order the games from within the EU cheaply and sell them on to us. Gameplay have offered the cheapest discount on any store so I still think its a good deal for now. The game wont go lower in price for quite a while IMO.

ign (a specialist game's review site) said this;
"Ultimately, this means that if, in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, you've poured the dozens of gameplay hours it takes to complete the adventure, it's not easy to recommend that you do it all again in Pokemon Platinum. Nintendo definitely put the effort into changing things around to make the Platinum adventure a different experience than the original release, but even with the slight change in script you'll be repeating the same stuff for, again, dozens of hours. This means you'll be visiting the same locations, talking with the same people, and performing a lot of tedious "level grinding" in order to defeat the higher end Trainers. "

and here is exactly whats changed
"The Platinum adventure does change significantly at about thirty hours in. Usually spoilers are removed from reviews, but in this case the Distortion World is common knowledge: Nintendo needed to make a case for the double-dippers and openly revealed that Pokemon Platinum features a new world to explore. By the time adventurers get to the Distortion World they will have already completed nearly 80 percent of the game. Since Nintendo pretty much calls out the new area as a bulletpoint right on the box, the discovery loses a lot of the impact it could have had if Nintendo let adventurers find it without the prior knowledge of its existence."

Even the reviewer said that its a good game for people who are new to the series but people who already own it may feel its not worth it. Personally I'm going to get it as I didnt play through pokemon diamond or pearl. Its definately worth getting if you dont own either diamond or pearl. Has your son tried zelda: Phantom hourglass? its quite cheap now and its a fantastic game. Heres a list of the best games for DS. Show him a couple of the titles and see if he likes them but not all of those games are subtable for a younger audience.

I'm thinking about pre-ordering htis too. I do agree with most of the comments on here. It is the same as the last 2, but still going though it all again but using different pokemon is always good.:thumbsup:
