my son got some cards for his birthday but look expensive to build up. there was an advert for the online game on them. online game seems free! and easier to play!

its a great way to get into the game!
when you buy packs and tins, you get a code card which lets you play those cards online
:)

Yea, you're right. Total rip off, but it's for kids and it's Christmas. They were about £18 when I looked in Smyths last week, so that at least makes me feel better about paying about £9 each.

Looked at these but thought it said contains 40 cards + 10 foil but you need 60 to actually play the game.....
#6
can you not just put them in the 750g quality street or celebration tubs? after you munch all the sweets of course!
#7
they also had two packs (not in tins) for £14 at asda. not sure how many in the packet if this helps anybody.

exactly! we got 3 x packs for his birthday which was 30 cards. not enough for a game! plus we didn't know the rules. so the game online is much better value. heck can get a refurbished tablet to play them on (we use a pc at moment)

You could just buy a deck for a tenner I believe, which is enough to play the actual game :)

if you want to let your children try the game IRL, theres some sets called battle arena decks which tend to have alot of useful cards.

additionally, you can get the world championship decks (yes theres an official competitive scene with a world championship!) that are fully built decks of those that did well at said tournament. a great way of learning the game

Great deal, I was lucky enough to get 2 tins in the last Tesco 3 for 2 after looking our for these for ages. My local Tesco hasn't had them in since.

Bought these in the Argos 3 for 2. It's the only thing my 8 year old has asked for, for Christmas. He learnt really quickly how to play the TCG and my husband uses the online game!

Went in to my local store (Loughborough - Rushes). Couldn't see these tins or a 3 for 2 offer unfortunately.

4 booster packs (10 cards in each) plus the one limited edition ex foil card to match the tin... They are definitely a rip off but your more likely to get the ultra rare cards that way as they aren't available in the usual deck packs

And they are good value! We've just bought one of the championship packs for £12 it includes 60 cards, a storage box and a limited edition pin badge and other bits I think(it's away til Xmas for now)

The Pokemon Co know they can milk the market by over inflating the physical form price points.

Yes they used to be cheaper.
Import prices due to brexit and exchange rates have made it increase.

More importantly, the competitive scene is growing with massive prizes on the line nowadays. This has factored into playable cards shooting up in price generally.

It's a shame, the game used to be considered cheap (although probably still is) ,compared to other tcgs

:)

Wait; are Tescos still doing 3 for 2 on toys? I rang them last weekend when it was being advertised, and they told me it would end on the 5th.
#24
I went yesterday and the 3 for 2 had ended instore.
#25
It was still on when I posted this deal on Monday. Not sure now. Looks to be on online.

Buy at local video game retailers or online is much cheaper, my local shop game scene is at least 15% cheaper on booster packs than tesco and whsmith, I ask my son to shop around so he can get more for his money. Also game are giving away free limited edition cards worth £12 each (they give you six different ones) with any Pokemon purchase instore
