Great film! Starts a bit strangely like something from a 1950's Disney Classic. But well worth buying for a tenner!

Really enjoyed this film, heat!

I need to ask but is this English only or is it/can it be Japanese-with or without English subtitles?

Plus nice find as the Blu Ray/DVD combo pack for 8.50 minus cashback is a steal!

It is a DVD film not a player!

not a respectable brand. Walk away. I always go for Pixar movies.

This movie is a great kids movie. Dreamy images and sequences. Simple story, fantasty magic elements.
Also the voices of the two main protagonists are done my Smiley Virus' sister and one of the Jonas brothers. So it should appeal if they are into their child stars. For older viewers Liam Neeson and Tina Fey are in it as well!

All the Studio Ghibli films I own have original and dubbed audio, I think this should be the same.

£8.49 is tempting but I really want to wait for the fold out digipak version.

It's a Studio Ghibli film, I don't think much more needs to be said.

What is this new fad with blu-ray dvd combos? Why on earth would you need both?

If (like me) you're just dipping your toe in the Blu-ray pool then you'll have at least a half-dozen DVD players and only one or two Blu-ray.

I went for the combi on this deal as it gives me a DVD we can play on all the old hardware and a Blu-Ray for my 1080p laptop. For me the £1.24 price difference was worth it, also I'm hoping the Blu-ray has extras on it that were only available on the more expensive 2 disc DVD.

Edit: I just checked and the Blu-Ray does include all the extras from the 2-Disc DVD set (£11.99 at Amazon) so this combo is definitely great value!

P.S. Both the Blu-ray and DVD include the English dub and original Japanese despite what some web-sites say (although only the English dub is DTS-HD on the Blu-ray)....

They have many uses:
Good for people who want the Blu-ray and the ability to make a backup from the DVD to watch on ipod etc.
Good for people who take films to their mates, who don't necessarily have Blu Ray players themselves.
Good for people who have more than one media player around the house, many have Blu Ray in the living room and maybe a DVD in the bedroom.

Anyway, great find OP

It's great for families. I have a Blu-Ray player, but my sister doesn't. If there's a film we both like, we split the cost 65/35 or thereabouts, she takes the DVD, pops it in a different case, prints artwork off and we've both saved money. Done this with Toy Story/TS2, Up, Avatar etc. and saved a chunk of money.

Heat added for this as well, £8.49 +Quidco and CC points is a steal for the combi pack.

Also handy if you haven't got a blu-ray player yet, but intend to at a later date, like us.

£9.99 in-store and online now. £9.99 at Amazon, too.

It's amazing how many people buy BRs not realising it won't play in their DVD player and bring it back for a refund. Now they have an excuse not to return it ;)

That's the more cynical thinking, others have mentioned more positive reasons!

I'm now the proud owner of my very first Blu-Ray (at least I now know the ROM side of my Blu-Ray writer works! - where do I get cheap blu-ray re-writeables?).

The boxset is really nice and the movie is just lovely.
The English dub cast is pretty good; and even the English subs aren't bad for a commercial release (although there's a typo in one of the first lines of dialogue and some of the translation, word order and timings seem off to me).
