I seen this and just had to post.

Elephant, Rhino, or Reindeer POO and banana tree seeds in a box

The dung is taken from UK zoos and safari parks, and is treated to make it germ and odour free. Simply sow the seeds, water the box and watch the plants grow.

* Grow a plant in odourless Elephant Poo
* Includes banana tree seeds
* Not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts which may represent a choking hazard.
* This product is not available for international delivery. Find out more

This can be collected for in-store collection, just go to the counter and ask the assistant for your poo.

Love the fact they say not suitable for under 3's as it repesents a choking hazard.

Great stocking filler, talking point if anything!

This is actually a good stocking filler. I was about to write, 'not sure why it's getting the cold votes', but then I realised this is hukd.

How do they make it odourless?

would love to see it on the advert.

"This isn't any old **** in a box...... this is M&S **** in a box"

I voted cold, based on the price and partly on the description. You can get banana seeds significantly cheaper than this, and grow them in odourless regular compost. It also says "simply". Bananas are not that simple to grow from seed, they require a quite bit of skill to get them to germinate. It is not simply bung them in zoo poo and leave on a window sill. You are paying a price for the novelty of giving a piece of animal dung rather than what the contents are worth if you buy them from a garden centre.

It is usually dried (which drives off a lot of the volatile smelly compounds), then washed, then dried again to package it. Same thing happens with horse manure (or the poop of any herbivore), it becomes odourless if spread out thinly to dry.

You could apply that to everything at Christmas, the Lynx gift packs, the Body Shop baskets of smelly stuff, the bars of chocolate put in a festive box etc etc. Sometimes it's nice, and in this case, mildly amusing, to receive things presented a bit differently.
