Surely setting the oven to the correct temperature and timing it is a much better (and free) option. I can imagine the scene in houses when the timer pops up and all the other food items are cold or not yet cooked.

You should always rest a turkey for a hour or two anyway, dont start cooking other stuff anyway until turkey is cooked :)

And check with a skewer - also (nearly) free. :)

Wrap it in foil, it'll stay nice and hot and keep it moist. HTH

Jamie Oliver may know how to make money, but clearly very little about thermodynamics/heat transfer. You might get away with resting a turkey on a hot plate in a commercial kitchen that's hot as hell, but in a domestic kitchen, after "an hour or two", you're looking at cold turkey.

After "an hour or two", cold and moist. If you want to keep it hottish, you might want to wrap some of this round the foil.
