The recent $ exchange rate has meant that the Popcorn Hour NMT is typically around £220. Advanced MP3 Players is now showing it in stock @ £199 Delivered so i think a good buy for this well regarded media player.

It can also be fitted with a hard disk and ebuyer have the Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache - OEM Green Power for £79.95 delivered, which is probably a good match for the popcorn

Specification

Popcorn Hour A-110 allows you to pull in digital video, audio and photos from various sources for your enjoyment on your HDTV or Home Theater setup.

The Popcorn Hour A-110 is a enhanced version of the popular A-100 model. It adds support for 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD and USB Slave functionality to improve connectivity and transfer rates. HDMI has been updated to the 1.3a spec, allowing full support of HD Audio pass-through for DTS HD-HR, DTS HD-MA, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD. The ports on the device have also been reconfigured, with a USB port moved to the rear panel, optical S/PDIF replacing the co-axial S/PDIF and a hardware reset button to allow for easier use of the device.

You can stream or playback your digital media content from a variety of sources, such as your PC, NAS, digital camera, USB mass storage devices (Flash drive, HDD, DVD drive) , internal SATA HDD* and even directly from the Internet via the Media Service Portal

It also serves as a NAS and a BitTorrent peer-to-peer downloader** to eliminate the need to switch on a PC or other device for this purpose.

The Popcorn Hour A-110 supports the latest high bitrate video formats (MPEG2 [email protected], H.264 [email protected], VC-1 [email protected] in TS of at least 40Mbps) to give you up to 1080p high-definition videos.

In recognition of advances in Internet TV, the A-110 supports peer-to-peer Internet TV streaming technology from SayaTV, as well as popular unicast internet TV such as YouTube, Revision 3 and Vuze via the Media Service Portal.

The A-110 firmware is upgradeable to support future media containers, codecs and features.

Love this, i have the A-100 but i cant warrant getting rid of it for the extra v1.3a support to be honest, picked mine up when the £ was 2-1 with the $, and it was about £90 + duty, still hot though

I had a root about and as far as I can tell it doesn't do visualizations when playing music. Can anyone confirm this? If it did good visualizations (though often I listen with the screen off anyway) then I would get one of these and retire my XBMC moded Xbox

these are stunning, I have one, playings everything you can throw at it .

constant firmware updates just keep making them better.

my old XBMC is redundant now

Thanks, but when I became aware of the Popcorn Hour I looked around the forums and IIRC it seemed that the lack of a visualizations app, or more frequently a way to play music with photo slideshow, was a common gripe.

#8

Add "popcorn" at checkout time to get £10 off. (this amounts to the same as the 5% off of course)

Thought it would be worth sharing my purchase experience with advancedmp3 so far.

Order placed on evening of the 3rd.
Payment processed and the unit shipped by FEDEX on 4th
Delivered by Fedex on 5th.

I used the breezily code to get a discount to the price down to £189.05 and it also came with a free case for MP3/phone. The popcorn hour did not include a UK mains cable, but I emailed advancedmp3 on evening of the 5th and they had one in the post next day and it was delivered on 7th.

As an aside I also bought a Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive for the Popcorn from ebuyer (£79.95) and despite using free delivery option the sequence of dates was - Order placed 3rd, shipped 4th and delivered 5th.

Very positive experience so far and now looking forward to getting the Popcorn up and running :)
