but does anyne know if this plays

divx files?

Been looking for one of these that was nice and cheap. Just in time for the journey to Grandmas at Christmas

My mum bought one last time they were on sale from Aldi - unless there has been an update in the last few months then this player doesn't play divx files. It's a neat little player though and It can be made multiregion quite easily.

Available in pink too!

MPEG4 is DivX/Xvid, so this one plays DivX from DVD but will it play also from USB port/SD card?.

Nice find - hot
#7
i believe it only plays divx from the dvd, not usb slot.
#8
Seems like a good deal. How do you make it multi-region?

You mean this one from over 3 months ago for £28.55?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/224630/tevion-portable-7-dvd-player-28-55-/

I thinks it's different, not only cosmetically, but the cheaper one doesn't appear to play MP3 or MPEG4 and has a Ni-MH detachable exterior battery, rather than a more expensive Lithium one being built in.

I bought one of these a few months back at £65 from Aldi. It has since been back twice for repair though it seems fine at the moment. The repair is done by the supplier fascin8 who i think unbeatablegadgets are an outlet for.
#14
Good job the Aldi one comes with a 3 year warranty then!

Seems like a good deal. How do you make it multi-region?

1. With the DVD player turned on, press the 'Setup' button on your remote control, to enter the system menu.
2. Press the right arrow button on your remote control until you have the 'Password Setup Page' displayed.
3. Then press '8888' using your remote control. This will subsequently display a 'Region Code' screen.
4. Using the up and down arrows on your remote control you can specify the region you require. To enable multi-regional play we recommend setting the unit to: Region Code 0.
5. Press the 'Enter' button on your remote control to confirm.

I bought this DVD player nearly two years ago from Aldi for the same price.
Been a great DVD player, and had no probs with it even though its had hundreds of hours use in my van. Comes with AV lead, so i sometimes hook it to up my 15" LCD TV in my camper van which saves having a full size DVD player in my van.

So did I. No problems with it. I bought 2 and linked them together for the kids, so they could watch the same film in the car

This seems like a great idea - is it easy to do, and if so how please?

Each DVD player comes with a lead to connect to a tv. You can get connectors from maplin to join the leads together. (red and white audio, yellow video) Then set one of the DVD players to receive input and away you go.

So what's the battery life on these like? I bought a cheapo one from Toys R Us and the battery life is ****. 1 hour at best. Not even enough for 1 film.
#21
Battery life is supposed to be 2 hours, but mine has always been about 1 3/4 hours. Maybe it would be better if i kept charging & discharging it, but i only ever use it plugged into 12V DC supply.

Good deal, a bit like the acoustic solutions twin screen that was selling on here a few months back which I bought and have not used, and subsequently put up for sale, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to advertise on here but seen as most people reading this are interested in a portable dvd player, I thought I might aswell mention it. Pm me if your interested!
#23
Can anyone who's purchased it confirm the divx compatibility?

I need to recommend a portable dvd player for around £50 to someone which needs to play divx and be able to be hacked to be multiregional dvds. Anyone recommend anything?
#24
Picked one up today for my daughter.
Thanks to OP.
Havent tested it, but it does say Mpeg4 compatible.
#25

#26

My local Aldi's sold out - anyone know where I can get something of a similar spec online? Thanks

"My local Aldi's sold out - anyone know where I can get something of a similar spec online? Thanks"

Argos are doing it for £59.99.I think the £5 back on a £50 spend is still working
#32
Not sure if anyone else is still going to read this thread, but I tried to get one of these when the deal was made hot - could only find it in pink (definitely not OH's style!)

Found it in my local Aldi today, they had about half a dozen, including the black.

Present finally sorted, if a bit last minute! :santa:
