I bought one of these about six weeks ago, and they are absolutely garbage. I had it replaced on two occasions before giving up and just got my money back, beware.

I bought one from Netto (I think), same thing but black and rebadged. Used it to start my car a few times and for bench testing starter motors etc. Had it over a year and only had to charge it once. Good things to have, but not something you'll probably get much use out of.

these are crap - had to send one back because it was faulty, the replacement wasnt much better

I've had one for about 2 years now, used the torch on it whilst camping and left it on all night, haven't charged it back up since!

Very handy for pumping up the paddling pool in the garden etc. Not so good for jump starting diesel cars with totally flat batteries, but ok on a petrol car if it still turns over but is a bit flat (eg lights left on too long etc). Also, don't leave them in the Garage for ages without period re-charges as the batteries go flat and once the winter kicks in they don't recover. A good thing to have IMO.

I think you need to spend a fair bit more than this if your going to use it for jump starting cars with flat batteries.
Plenty of other uses though and should help start your car if your battery is low rather than flat.

Agreed...

£19.99 is hardly a price suggesting a professional grade for these type of items.

Jump started my car which was totally dead. Ideal for emergencies and can't argue at that price. Will pay for itself with one use in terms of reducing inconvenience. Treat it as an insurance policy.

This item is available from Halfords (in store) for £39.99 (reduced from £49.99 last week) same model as deal.

Definitely a hot deal in my opinion.

No offense Edi but shouldn't the price include postage and the link point to the actual item?

deffo worth having repped and voted, I have the same one and I am in the car trade so use it a lot, for most people it will be ok but completly dead batterys forget it, still worth having ! The tyre compressor is very good....thanks
#17
Very goo dprice but don't expect the comprressor to be up to much. Npught one a few months back (£26) and took it back as it couldn't blow the tyre up on a normal car.

A couple of motor professionals came round to look at my wife's diesel and tried to jump start with *much smaller version* of one of these. Not only did it not start, the cables went all floppy and started smoking! I later bought one just like in the picture, it is not bad for various tyres and things but don't expect real power behind it.

I've got a similar one to this (from Makro) - saved me a couple of times when my car has been standing a long time when I've been away.

Also used it to charge phone and ipod when camping (mine has a ciggy lighter socket in the side, I assume this one has too)

That'd suggest a short usually...

Could have just been faulty equipment or a couple of numpties shorting the cable.

The battery in this alone is worth more than 20 quid. If you have an electric Golf cart the battery in this would be ideal as a spare or to replace an exhausted one.

I do wonder if the people who are saying these are sh*te actually realise they need a GOOD charge before using? I left mine plugged in for about 2 days, as I do when charging car batteries.

As for the tyre pumping thing. Yes, they are VERY slow to pump up a tyre (approx 5psi per minute on the wifes car this morning :-p) but they get there in the end. But then the same can be said of ALL the battery powered compressors. If you want speed, buy a proper tanked compressor ;-)
#25
Am sure I saw something similar in wilkinsons at same price. I wouldn't buy one though as it won't see much use and the battery will end up dying anyway.
#26
the front of it says charge for 12 hours then charge after use ive seen something similar on sale in blackpool market
#27
I bought one as seemed a good deal. Have been using it to pump the slow punctures up on my Saab and they need to be 30psi and no probs at all! Little slow but so much better than my other tyre pump that had to plug into cigarette lighter and have the engine on! Thanks for the deal!

its expired mate:-(

I have one of these they are brilliant. I got mine on ebay for about the same money. We use the air compressor all the time to blow up the tyres on our bikes.

I used the jump starter many times on an old estate I bought to gut our current house. Very very useful....
