i agree i have one of these and i tried it on my 2.3D serena it was rubbish, would not start my poor dead battery. the engine would turn over afew times but that was it. buy at your own risk.
oh the compressor isnt much good.
sorry voted cold for me

This will only start a small petrol engined car, it's no use for diesels or larger petrol engines

and it was £20 before

Anyway, i've got one of these but it's black and came from Netto a few years ago. Been used on a regular basis and never failed to start my car no matter how flat the battery was. So maybe Maplin have been sold a duff batch.

You are indeed correct. This is going back to Maplin tomorrow.

Wish I could vote this deal as cold as it's about as useful as a chocolate kettle. :x

It went back today. I'm getting my money back. It's useless, it doesn't inflate the tyre fully and takes ages. It would be quicker and easier if I inflated it up myself.

Agreed. I got one ages ago and I swear that if I just breathe in the general direction of my flat tyre often enough it will inflate faster than one of these "pumps". The jump starter works fine on my car though so it's still half useful

Doesn't say in the description but there's enough buttons on there to make me think it's possible to set a target PSI/bar and it will keep pumping until it reaches it

I think it's the same as the Ring one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/DIGITAL-COMPRESSOR-TYRE-INFLATOR-LIGHT/dp/B000UPEHJU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1226854605&sr=8-3) which the reviewer says has cuts out at the right pressure.

This is a very easy to use product complete with a built in light. You simply set the required pressure and it whirrs away and cuts off automatically when the right pressure is reached. The only downside is all these types of products are quite noisy and aren't exactly pocket sized - but I think this is a best of breed.

That's got me thinking... if you car's battery was low enough in the first place and you leave one of these compressors on then you could end up with it empty (the battery). Then you have to use jump start part of it to get things going again but then if it didn't fully inflate the tire before it stopped... :-D

I have just used this jump starter on my 2.2 diesel, and it Worked a treat, so as far as I am concerned it does what it says. You would be very hard pused to find a 17ah battery and charger for less
