The Cake is a LIE

"About the Game

Portal is a new single player game from Valve. Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has been called one of the most innovative new games on the horizon and will offer gamers hours of unique gameplay.

The game is designed to change the way players approach, manipulate, and surmise the possibilities in a given environment; similar to how Half-Life® 2's Gravity Gun innovated new ways to leverage an object in any given situation.

Players must solve physical puzzles and challenges by opening portals to maneuvering objects, and themselves, through space.

If you haven't played HL2 or even just the HL episodes, then I would say get the Orange Box, IMHO the best single purchase you can make if you have the faintest interest in FPS's.

I've been "forcing" myself to play through HL2 (I NEVER normally revisit games I've already clocked, especially 2-3 year old ones, but this one is extra special), before touching the eps or Portal.

Did give Portal a quick go, could see me being frustrated easily, but it's well atmospheric, looking forward to playing it proper when I finally get around to it!

Gonna think about getting this...TF2 and portal iv'e really wanted to have a play around with, but i already own hl1 & 2 so never wanted to fork out for the OB. Hot price anywas :D

I have played hl2 three times all the way thru now and since getting the Orange box have wanted to do this again. I suggest you play Portal now caus like above worth it for the ending alone! However you are left with many questions but I get the feeling Valve will be answering at least some of them in the near future...
I am waiting for Black Mesa to be released (putting money on a November release myself) then I will be playing everything Half Life from start to finish perhaps just in time for Episode 3?

PORTAL is amazing!

I dont normally play games, but this one really grabbed me. It has so much atmosphere. It also cleverly psychologically gets inside of your mind - it has one of the cleverist relationships between the game and gamer I have ever seen.
#9
i started playing it on my pc, then it died, then i got my macbook and found a way i could play it on there. started playing it but then ran out of space after doing a few wedding shoots so took it off :( might have to buy it for xbox i think just so i can finally finish it.

Heat added!

if you guys still think that £6 is too much then you can play this version http://portal.wecreatestuff.com/:)

I think that if you can get the orange box for under 20 quid it's a better deal, but this is still really good. :)

I got mine for 17 in PC world after Xmas (pricematched) :D

Good game. If you can pick the orange box up cheaply thats probably a better deal though- the extra tenner or so is well worth it for Team Fortress 2 and HL Episode 2 alone

Never mind that... how about this?

http://portalmaps.wecreatestuff.com/

It's the levels from the 2D version converted to run in Portal. Apparently these are going to be bundled with the standalone release of Portal coming soon to XBLA so they've kind of got the Valve seal of approval.

Have downloaded and spent an hour or so playing the extra levels. I am surprised how good they are. Trickier puzzles. I like.
