If you have purchased a powerful mains or car USB charger but find that it charges your Apple or Android device slowly or not at all when using a normal USB cable, this adapter will most likely solve

PLEASE READ. Many ports etc aren't the problem, the problem is the cable people use. Get an app such as Currentwidget and you can test the draw you're getting with different cables. I found several would draw 460mA maximum but others would draw 1900mA FROM THE SAME PORT.
I can't stress enough how often I see people blaming chargers, when you read the output on them saying 2amp, yet they're using cables which are so poor they limit it to a quarter of that.

There's like 5050% 'TRUTH' in that? .. the Power Adapter's 'Power Port' plays a MASSIVE part in some of these/some of that also?, so ..... lool. :-)
I'm just stating that more modern chargers and ports provide higher amps, so don't buy this if you own one.

If the charger leaves the data pins open or connected straight though then most if not all 1A+ capable phones will limit the charge current to ~500mA. This is probably because modern USB host controllers as found on modern PC's will assume a short and shut the port down if too much current is drawn.

That all said, you can test your charger with most Android phones by looking at the battery status screen while it charges. If it says "Charging (AC)" then you'll get the full benefit of what the charger can provide.
note that most USB3 ports and mains chargers can provide 1.5-2.1A. this device is only useful for old computers with 500mA USB2 ports.

More nonsense. It can't possibly increase the output from 500mA to 1A or higher unless it has an external power input (or unless it halves the voltage, which would be pretty pointless).

From what I see on this thread some are saying it can.

Anyway I'm not doubting that, I'm just stating that more modern chargers and ports provide higher amps, so don't buy this if you own one.
Will dig out the link if anyone wants to know.
A link would be good, thanks
Just found this one. Cheaper and better than mine. Always the way...http://www.amazon.co.uk/Multimeter-Detector-Current-Voltage-Charger-Black/dp/B00Q2HWLYS

USB OLED Display Charger
How the hell is this hot :/

Because it is a device, that is UK sourced, and costs the same as a pint, that, for some people, will make their devices charge safely at 4x their current speed.

This company are a nightmare to deal with for returns after 30 days. Best to dodge them completely.
Reviews are very mixed. Looks like to get the power you require you will need the appropriate cables. And since they don't supply the cables, you could find yourself with devices not charging or charging slower than the original chargers.
