The reason for this being a possible price glitch is that each item the hd lead and the surge protector is £129 on it's own (yes expensive for what it is). So that's £258 separately. Google it they are this price everywhere.
Before people vote cold please bear in mind that if your equipment is connected to this they will give you up to £250,000 if it causes it to blow so with all the lightning and stuff we have been getting this seem a great deal. I don't know of any other providing that much cover. So please don't vote cold just because it's made by monster.

The hdmi lead is 2.7m

Just because it's cheaper than other places still doesn't make it a good deal.

Ever had anything blow due to lightning? Every heard of anyone? Ever heard of anyone who heard of anyone?

My spidey sense tell me that actually getting any money out them would be very difficult and stacked to the gills with legal clauses and caveats.

Lastly, how much value is the stuff you'd have attached, and would you really go through all the hassle of claiming in a fraught process for a few hundred quid?

If there was a power surge that destroyed anything I'd just claim on my home insurance - simples

It might be £99 now but anything made by Monster is hugely expensive especially HDMI cables with 0 difference between £100 and £0.99 ones.

I work for a company that has to replace a lot of equipment due to lightning strikes so actually yes I have seen and heard of equipment being destroyed. Also I have a couple of grands worth of equipment so yeah I would claim.

So you could tell us how common this is?

Also, i've worked in computing for 29 years and i've never heard of it happen.

This site is crazy. Anyone wanting this would normally pay £258 I've found it for £99 and people still say it's not a deal. Crazy

The ethos of this site is not just whatever is the cheapest price for a particular product, it's the value of the item involved as well if you can find a comparative item for less which performs just as well that affects the deal. In this case Monster have overinflated the RRP of the product and even at £99 sadly it is still overpriced for the quality of the product you can buy the comparative for a fraction of the cost. I have a 8 gang surge protector cost me £15 several years ago, I bought the cloth and screen cleaner pack from eBay for £2 delivered. £17 all in and it will perform just as well as the £99 equivalent. That will be the reason you are getting cold votes.

Most reputable brand multiplug surge protector manufacturers offer a 'connected equipment' guarantee so Monster's is nothing special:

Masterplug guarantee: http://www.nexusinds.com/masterplug/uk/surge-warranty
Belkin Guarantee: http://www.belkin.com/uk/cew/

etc etc....

Monster is just a rip off brand for the people who have more money than sense..

I have one of these. I got it free. When my parents bought 2 Telly's and something else. They threw 2 of these and the hdmi cables in for free. At first it worked fine. But now if I use all the plugs it fuses. I would be annoyed if I had payed for it. But for free it's ok.

It has a lifetime warrantee so just contact monster and they will replace. But I'm sure you voted cold anyway.

20000 jobs a week just for your company doing lightning replacement?

How much will cpc give you if ur tv and equipment blows up?

A little more than I would pay for a surge protected 8way but this APC one is only 20quid
http://www.ebuyer.com/190660-apc-surgearrest-audio-video-surge-suppressor-ac-230-v-8-output-pf8t3v-uk
£25,000 cover (my tv/pc/xbox/amp only comes to £2k max), and APC is a must better company for dealing with power (American Power Conversion Corporation) IMO.

Forget it cba to keep arguing about it. I really don't care whether people think it's good or not. Just thought I would help some people who might have been looking for it.

I haven't voted either way. As for what the retail at. It's is a good price. But do I think it's worth it. So I won't vote for that reason.

anyone who thinks this is a good deal is either ignorant or stupid.

a good quality HDMI lead up to 5m should cost on more than £10.

again for a decent surge protector £20 at best.

thirdly I use 99p baby wipes as my screen cleaner

Maybe the most ridiculous post I've seen and the OP is still fighting for heat :D:D

[quote=Pasanda]Ever had anything blow due to lightning? Every heard of anyone? Ever heard of anyone who heard of anyone?

A number of years ago I had to go to Coventry University to repair a large and very expensive computer (Sequent) due to a lightning strike, so yes it does happen. They then put surge protectors in. If you want to see the real power of s strike, look what it did to my local church.

Fortunately my flat doesn't have a steeple.

I don't think anybody is disputing the power of lightning, or the benefits of a surge protected socket.
#32
Monster cables are like Beats by Dre headphones (same company originally), they suck, but the brand is pushed so much people actually believe the hype.
Its digital, a £1 cable is going to do the same job as a £100 cable.
Even with surge protector and screen cleaning stuff I can't see more then £15 maybe £20's worth of stuff there.
#33
Damn, I missed the chance to pick one up when I collected my Now TV box. Cover limit of only quarter of a million is a bit offputting though so I might give it a miss.

I'm stunned...at why this isn't colder.

Your flat probably doesn't have a lightning conductor either.

I didn't say it never happens. I intimated that it very uncommon. And you pretty made made the point for me.

And i don't think anyone disputes how powerful it can be. So not sure what point yer making there.
