Lovely deal Edi

Thanks for the credit Edi...I was going to post the deal here as well but I noticed that you'd posted the Sherlock Holmes offer and I thought the forum could only stand so many Book People deals. :)

I think The Book People are terrific - really great prices and prompt delivery. However, I do worry a little bit about people only ordering sets of books for £5 or £6 and getting free delivery with the code. Their prices are already so cheap that I think if too many low sales are made with free delivery they'll end up cancelling free delivery codes are increasing their prices. I think their £25 free delivery threshold is quite high - but they can't be making any profit if they sell a set of books for £5 or £6 and deliver for free as well. :?

This isn't one of those book companies vinylandtrinkets, it's just a regular retailer.

Great post!

Don't forget 5% cashback through Quidco too :)

Great find, thanks for that!

They also offer a FREE gift with this purchase worth £2.99! (There's a choice of annuals, including Pocoyo and some others.) Forgot about Quidco, though - but using quidco in conjunction with the free p&p code and the gift on top of this bargain price would be a bit too greedy, wouldn't it?

I didn't want to spend any more money this month, but hey, who can resist a bargain like this? It's just lucky that my little boy happens to be a HUGE Postman Pat fan AND he likes Pocoyo too.

Thanks everyone :)

You're right NorthernGirl... £5 or £6 with Free delivery is slap on the face for the retailer. Sherlock Homes set is on 'Sale' @ my local book shop ' Bookthrift' for £40 ;-)

Larger retailers like The Book People usually have contracts with couriers and Royal Mail and they pay a flat rate for the delivery services. I'm not quite sure how it works, but that's my understanding. It's like a subscription and they get much better rates than you and me at the post office. Also, they get good deals from manufacturers/distributors on bulk purchases, so they are able to offer the books at a bargain price. They might be operating on a small profit margin, but they still make money out of it. Selling products at a highly discounted price encourages consumers to buy more. I would have never bought these books at the RRP, which are inflated prices in the first place. In the end everyone's happy, except the high street stores of course, who rely on the rip-off RRP to pay for their overheads.
