depends on the use, rechargeable are not great for torches or anything with a speaker as the voltage is lower unless you buy the really expensive ones.

Zinc or Alkaline Batteries ?¿

These are zinc, suitable for low power items only eg clocks.

They will last about 10 minutes in a motorised toy.

But not always suitable due to their lower voltage, 1.2v vs 1.5v for normal batteries.

Dont give up, this is a good deal if you want lots of low power batteries, unfortunately most people don't. Some people (me included) in the past, have felt ripped off by pound shop batteries when they say things like ultra power and have a big brand name Sony, Panasonic etc and only after impulse buying them you discover they are zinc. Even if these are they are the best zinc batteries in the world, they are still rubbish compared to a bog standard alkaline battery.

Unless you're going for really low drain (can't even think what that might be, even remotes are high drain these days) you will see 2-11 Times more power in alkaline over zinc. IKEA have 10 for £1.50 as standard, which is tough to beat but I have seen 10p per battery on occasion.
Just my opinion!

Also rechargeable's tend to be a little bigger than their non rechargeable versions so there are certain things you might try to use them in and find they don't fit or worse get stuck and you can't get them out

Wilkinsons do 4 alkaline AA for 50p, 8 for 95p.
