I cannot pass judgement on this specific item - it looks reasonable and has several 5* reviews.

However, I have tried about a dozen 'cheap' car chargers, all of which either overheated and threatened to catch fire/ completely trashed my car radio reception/ failed to even activate the charging circuit on my phone(!)/ or charged so slowly that my phone complained!!

I eventually found a compact and durable unit, which charges swiftly and in a controlled manner, up to three items, is fashioned from aluminium and not plastic, which remains cool at all times and is generally very inspiring piece of kit. It is this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KGUTB86?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

I would recommend this to anyone (and have done so many times).

Ordered one in the week ans delivered yesterday. works well and good quality. Only thing is that the mains plug illuminates blue which for me is annoying as i wanted it beside the bed!

Tiny bit of tape over the light solves that, had to do it with my land-line phone.

Go with the anker one from Amazon. No home charger, but you should have a multi port home charger anyway, coincidently anker do one...

I don't work for them just love their products and customer service

This is the best car charger I've tried.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dual-Port-Charger-Technology-External-Batteries-Black/dp/B00D82O68Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420421002&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+car+charger

Anker PowerIQ so always charging everything fast as it can be charged. No LED too which some consider a plus.

£7.99 and no home charger though so not as much of a bargain.

Thanks for the recommendation (and ignore the naysayers).

Black permanent marker, 5-second fix.

I should write a book of these amazing tips.

Anker all the way

Apple charger not included. Cold - Why do they put it the description
#13
Great price but perhaps a little selective with the wording... only the car charger is 3amp the desktop one is only 2.1amp. Still excellent for this price.
#14
I always thought you shouldn't charge over 1C (1hr for 3100mah) as might damage battery? So I probably wouldn't get this as a mains charger for a phone. Oh it seems the mains one is 2.1amp so nevermind.

Because it will charge the Apple device if you use an expensive 30pin or Lightning proprietary cable that requires you to pay Apple a fee to make, rather than the included Micro USB cable that fits all the other devices.

That's an astonishingly good Amazon customer review store. Almost too good.
I'm just slightly suspicious of the "professional" reviewers who received samples specifically for evaluation.

I think most people have several now. phones, tablets, Bluetooth devices, portable batteries......

I have a 5-port next to my bed that is usually has 3 or 4 in use simultaneously.

thats a shock, are you living in 2005?

does the output amps halve (2.1 / 2 = 1.05A) on the mains charger if two devices are connected at same time?

Like Jaizan, I am suspicious of the so called "professional" reviews. I've owned two Anker products and am far from impressed with either of them.

The first was a phone & (simultaneous) spare battery charger for a Galaxy S2. The device quite literally below up, with my phone at one end of the kitchen & the battery at the other, with smouldering pieces of charger everywhere!

The second was a 10,000ma portable battery pack which, after just two months, would barely charge a Galaxy S3 once.

What made me suspicious from day one was that with each of these purchases Anker promised to send me a free gift, but only if I left a POSITIVE review on Amazon. Surely such a practice is illegal??? Needless to say I complained to Amazon & got a full refund.

Haven't voted either way, but it'll take an awful lot to get me to trust Anker again.

To clarify my earlier comment, I know this is not an Anker product, but other members have made reference (& posted links) to their equivalent products. Just wanted to make potential buyers aware.

I couldn't agree more - there are "Pro Reviewers" cropping up all over the place.
However, I can assure you and others that I am an independent user, and I speak only from personal experience, not from my wallet!!.
In this case, I wish to help others avoid problems and find a quality product.
