Thanks for posting this as it saved me the time in doing so.

When you consider that a mere over-clocked 8600 GT 256MB managed 175 degrees of heat over the weekend and this is over twice as fast for less than £15 more go and figure how hot this should be!
Benchmarks here - http://www.legitreviews.com/article/591/1/

A 300W power supply will be fine unless you have a monster over-clocked CPU but you will need a 6 pin PCIe power connector or adapter.

Hot deal, wish I had a desktop so I could play the upgrade game.

I agree, the 8600GT wasn't a hot deal for me, this card is way faster, or this

Why do you assume people want to play Crysis? I've got a decent PC but I don't want to play Crysis.
#16
Because Crysis is the best looking pc game out.

I think this is a better deal [Polly69]. You shouldn't buy a graphics card with less than 512mb for gaming these day's.:)

It depends on a lot of factors; for current Nvidia cards I’d agree unless you have a low resolution monitor but for this card in particular the benchmarks show that it doesn’t benefit much from the extra 256MB. I looked into in when I bought my HD 3850 and I only went for the 512MB version because I picked one up very cheaply on eBay.

That Gigabyte was a steal at that price though and it over-clocks well in the review I read.

Hi "Agharta", the card does benefit from the extra 256mb as it adds increased graphical texture handling. Further more the card has quite good Overclocking ability, even though it's memory and gpu are underclocked then the aTI base.

It turned out to be a misprice and it looks as if maybe one person or so got one at that price and the rest of the orders were cancelled.

I know the theory but the real-world benchmarks didn’t show significant gains. With the price of these cards coming down so much the price differential between them is so small now that the 512MB cards look more attractive these days.

I was talking generally rather than about the Gigabyte card in particular. The review I read made it sound like a great card; shame it turned out to be a misprice.

512MB ram
pentium 4 1.2GHZ
40GB HD
DVDRW

the works!

...

na its a C2D 6400 @ 3GHZ
2 gigs ram
good mobo

i guess the problem is, most people think 25FPS is good. it isnt, you need a min of 40fps in crysis imo. i also have a dell 30" at 2560x1600 so the resolution isnt helping.

i ended up playing on 1280x800 on highish
or 2560x1600 on lowish

unplayable though imo, probably need to wait 2 more years before any GFX card can really play that game
#28
How couldn't this card play crysis at high, i'm using a HD 2900GT with a 6400+ and i can play crysis at high... This card will be better than that

Since when was "it looks good" a proper reason to play a game? I play Team Fortress 2. Doesn't look quite as picture perfect but the game play is much better.
#31
Not sure why this is showing expired as I ordered one earlier, the price changes when it's added to your basket, might change at 12.00 I suppose, so get one now.

Thanks to original poster.

nonsense
i dont know what game you have been playing mate

the first two thirds of this game are simply stunning ,
with shaders on high, physics on high , objects on high and water, the rest on med
i get around 20-40 fps (mostly over 30 unless lots going on) and thats at 1680 x 1050 res
thats with a hd3850 512mb card
which looks so stunning (i remember seeing a waterfall with rainbow haze effect which looked well.... like real life)
also the 360 pad works perfect with rumble too.

with physics on high its just awsome when you have a firefight in the jungle and trees etc are falling all around you (like the seen in predator), or when you lob a grenade into a hut and watch as the walls blow off in at all angles.

Also the game really needs to be played on delta setting,
The korean shouts, no crosshair and general improvements it brings are insane.

Well your res doesnt help, and also anything above 30fps is unnoticeable to the human eye.

Also about the 256mb and 512mb, 512mb is only really needed on higher resoulitions.
If you have say a 17" monitor 256mb is fine and you wont notice any difference between 256mb and 256.

All of that is looks. Gameplay is what is important and the sales of the Wii compared to the PS3 and 360 show that. Go play TF2 and there's a game that can be played for years rather than a couple of weeks.

The offer is back on again until tomorrow at midday but 6p cheaper.
