Anyone play the BF3 Alpha with one of these ??
Just wondering as I used a 5770 and it was chugging but then I did only have 2gb ram and an old core2duo

Would have been even hotter if it was the MSI Hawk at this price, heat added though. Only a £10 difference between this and last weeks 6850 with same games for £115.

I would steer well clear of powecolor they have a dreadful SLOW RMA and the track record so far of their 6870's is not good loads of VTX 6870 cards (made by powercolor) have recently been returned to ocuk they wont run at stock speeds you have to underclock them so I am thinking these barely made it to 6870 either.

Don't buy from these companies that have no uk RMA service and take 2 months to sort out a return just pay a small bit extra for a good brand with a good rma like gigabyte and msi they both have UK based rma services rest are holland germany etc but powercolor are a joke it's probably still send to asia and pray.

You really should get a quad core for bf3 if you want to run it looking reasonably nice.

I'd also watch out for the games too, the vouchers site had been hacked last week so not sure if the games vouchers are valid: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09/08/amd_gaming_offer_security_snafu/

powercolor rma situation is really no joke guys they ignore everyone outside of North America you'll be lucky if they even reply to your email.

Msi one is £10 more but worth it for better cooling and a better binned 6870 and a UK based fast rma service and peace of mind.

Good price, I paid £105 for a 5850, which at stock is no more than 10% off this card, so probably works out around the same. Although, the 5850 xtreme is a smaller card, so fits more case's.

actually a 5850 is neck and neck and beats it in some things the 6870 is the most pointless card ever

errr no it's pretty much the same clock for clock and the 5850 will even overclock slightly better you cant rely on anandtech gpu bench it doesn't take in to account new drivers new patches etc etc a 6870 is more or less an overclocked 5850 even has the exact same power consumption and heat
