I actually bought 2 these for a friend who wanted me to build him a sli/crossfire Gaming Rig so i chose the cheapest which i found to be the RX 470 by PowerColor, yes i know its not top of the range but there were other brands of the same model for like that were going for the same price as the RX 480 4gb which were £25-£35 more.

and these cards you might find at other sites at similar prices:-

Zippytom - PowerColor RX 470 Red Dragon 4gb FREE DELIVERY - http://zippytom.com/catalog/product/view/id/37628/s/powercolor-rx-470-4gb-red-dragon/ < £5 extra but i guess thats the cost for "Next Day Delivery" they have. (Reputable service 9.4/10 on trustpilot)

ILGS - PowerColor RX 470 Red Dragon 4gb FREE DELIVERY - http://www.ilgs.net/powercolor-rx-470-4gb-red-dragon (just about the same price as morecomputers but questionable service as said by a lot of reviewers that left comments on trustpilot that is below average for me personally anyways)

Here is the better one from Ballicom but for the price of £149.40 inc VAT - https://www.ballicom.co.uk/powercolor-axrx-470-4gbd5-3dh-oc-.p1287379.html?ref=PLA&gclid=COv08eumktICFaew7QodhjcD_w - Powercolor Radeon Rx 470 4gb - Red Devil -Engine Clockup to 1270MHz with boost- -Memory Clock1750MHz x4 (7.0Gbps)- as you can see it has a better engine/boost clock as being the flagship of powercolor. but beware as ballicom in the past have also mis-priced their products something that me and very few others have experienced with the infamous RX 480 8gb that was going for the same price as a GTX 1050 ti only to receive an E-mail saying its not in stock?.

The red devil has been that price at ballicom for a while, it briefly went out of stock for half a day.

It's worth noting that these cards (Power Color) are possibly the worst model, hobbled together with low quality parts (low quality pcb and cooler used on Nnidia parts, hence heatpipes dont make full contact)

Cheap though

Gibbo over at Overclockers was nice enough to share that alot of this stock was bought from another company who were ckearing out older stock.

Overclockers got alot, but so far it seems they only offering minimal discounts, choosing instead to increase margins.

If you look elsewhere you can get hitman free with better models, but obviously it cost more, prices are slowly coming down, but not quick enough

I think it's supposed to be even worse, constant throttling and crashing.

Try and find reviews (only bad reviews from users), there aren't any. They released the Red Dragon, had it reviewed, then announced this but released without reviews, they tooka while to come through (and only from customers) I think this says it all really.

I would go for a RX 470 (or 480) at this price, but decided not to chance this one given it's very highly likely to be nothing but problems.

Do you mind if I ask which model? The reviews (the few I can find) have put me off, but wouldn't mind a mid range / budget card.

its the same model as the rx 470 powercolor but instead a 480 8gb, it goes for 199.99 in most retailers but novatech have got a better offer on the MSI armor i just posted above

it's really hard to recommend powercolor as a brand at a small savings.

If you really need to save 10 quid over the next step up, then go for it, but this is the cheapest card because it is also the worst AMD 470/480 card.
#11
weather it is the worst or not...iv seen powercolor value and the 480 8gb version is more pricy than most known brands

cheapest iv seen atm is 229 quid

There are reviews stating that the Strix model refuses to maintain boost frequency.

hot! my sapphire 470 rx from amazon at 150 quid maxes everything out at 1080p. interesting to see how crossfire goes as not all games support it but could get you 4k in theory

15 min's in to the vid explains why the strix runs poor & how easy it is to change.

Thanks for that, I'll take a look. At a guess, I'll assume it was to do with the power limit on release.

Tried to watch the last link, explaining the Strix, it's coming up invalid link.

It's power & temp settings(also mentioned 8.30 min's in to vid).
Basically asus were to conservative on temps just in case you live in the middle of a desert & set temp cut off at 60 rather than 75/80 of every other card.

Thank you again, I kept getting an error (I was on mobile though), I've tried again on my pc, but it takes me straight to a recommended watch list, no video.

I have tried searching. I find people complaining about throttling and the card refusing to maintain boost. There are others suggesting, you could possibly maintain boost if you alter your power limit to max.

I remember a couple of manufacturers released updated software (sorry I don't remember which ones), which allowed setting to be tweaked even further than when first launched. Was it something along these lines?

The problem is so many models were released between just 2 skus, even from the same manufacturer (Sapphire). When you couple this with all the problems AMD had at release with power targets, then Manufacturers who possibly knew they had bad hardware and decided not to send review samples, the various updates to fix power draw and overclocking.

From the hundred or even thousands of reviews performed at release, barely any are accurate (of what the card should have or could have been with the correct bios)
Since then we have had many driver improvements to add to this, but alot of people tend to refer to the launch benchmarks / reviews.
