looks good, how does this compare against the 8800 series?

oh it's not DX10 never mind then.
Plain and simple it doesnt compare to 8800 this is a DX9 card not DX10 this isnt cheap either for about £15-20 more get the ATI3850 which is way faster than this and is DX10. The 8800gt cards are the 256mb which has a £117 price tag and 512mb which start for a cheap name version at around £140 and rise to £200+ for the premium names are some of the fastest cards on the market the 512mb version turned out to be one of there fastest cards ever apart from the ultra which meant they had to do away with there 8800gtx 320mb version becase this killed it for less money.
The x1950 is an excellent card, especially for the price, but the newe hd3850 from ATI is much better (of course thats the extra cash), and is the true economical competitor to the geforce 8800.

The 8800 are truly powerful cards, and you will be disapointed if you expect that kind of performance.

The x1950 is not quite up to the job of Call of Duty 4, but anything older then six months will run like a dream.
