For the record this doesn't say they've sold their allocation like before either so should be release day stock.

Sorry but a cold from me, may be the cheapest now but still £70 too much imho. Gameseek had the right price for this at £200. Wouldnt advise anyone to pay anymore for it. Going on all the recent news about it i'd call £200 generous too.

No doubt it will have some great Nintendo games but like the Wii U i cant see how they can maintain meaningful third party support much beyond the launch window...

It's soo going to be another Wii U this. Doesn't have the horse power needed to keep 3rd party developers invested. That said, I really enjoyed my Wii U just for the in house games. Always going to be someone's "second console" this though.

Or main console if you use a PC to play games (_;)

Only reason I'm buying this is for Zelda, Mario and what ever Pokemon they release for it. Would never buy an Xbox or PlayStation.

Been looking throughout the day (including when this deal was posted) and nada. Well done to anyone that did nab one though

like the wiiU though they'll try their hardest to maintain its price...so this is a decent deal as it stands.
But still overpriced for what it is, and already under supported by 3rd party...as a home console, the signs aren't good.
under powered, over priced add ons, and an online paywall that requires a phone app...and they only have two online games?

As handheld, Nintendo know what they're doing...so could go either way and not be the disaster it's sounding.

Feel the same mate. I supported Wiiu from launch but won't make that mistake again. Wouldn't be surprised if its around £200 by November/December.

To be honest I agree with ST3123.. Only 5 games on launch and only one of them worth playing. The rest of the good games are Wii U ports. Nintendo AAA titles are very slow coming out and third party likely to drop off as the console is weak in power.. no COD, Battlefield or Mass Effect planned which are the main games casual gamers want.

Out of interest, if those are the games that casual gamers want, what are the games that 'hardcore' gamers want?

I think everyone who is thinking of buying this is doing the sums and realising its way over priced once you add up setup cost. The console price if a little lower would fly off the shelves with 1 2 switch included say £250 mark but instead people are finding it really hard to justify which is not a good start.... Console plus a pad either charging pad £30 or £60 for proper pad then the only game £50 so the real price is £400. Really mad at Nintendo for completely abandoning there older controllers from wii u when we all know with little to no work they would work just fine.

£199 or £229 i think it would fly off the shelves, not so much at its current price. At first, maybe.. But i won't be buying at launch due to lack of games, so I'll buy later in the year when it's bound to be cheaper, if not before then.

Those games are trash, I am casual when it comes to gaming and I don't want a single one of those games. I want games I can play with my family. Mario, Zelda, Mario kart, Splatoon etc etc. Plus I'm gonna be taking these games on the go! Nobody else is taking their PS4 or Xbox one games on the go are they. Only other option you have is an expensive gaming laptop. No iPad will offer the same experience as the switch.

The console IS flying off the shelves - there's not too many places still offering pre-orders for release day and this is only after a week.

And there is no gryoscope in the old Wii U pro controller, so not supporting it makes sense from that perspective.

But just to pick out one single example (there is so many), you can't play Splatoon on any of those consoles. What if you want something different to a generic shooter? There is nothing quite like the award winning Splatoon.

Thank you for the advise but this a deals website and if this is currently the cheapest it can be had for, heather you think it's a good buy or not is irrelevant.

Let's leave fanboyism out of this and just vote based on the actual price.

I voted on the "actual price" to me it isn't a good price for this. To me £200 is a good price not £270 nor £280 either. Been gaming since the 80s and played and enjoyed nearly every system going so not a fan of any one system at all, just gaming in general.

And btw who made you the hukd police? I can vote how i want to on any deal i want. I try to vote sensibly so the good deals get hotter but its entirely up to the individual how they vote...

Your just seeing the odd frustrated Nintendo fan like ejadaddy and myself getting on our high horses and the frustration of the trolling fanboys on just about every other Switch thread last few days. Much of the nonsense was you have to sell about 5 billion consoles for it to be a good console. I notice since the pre-sales figures have been starting to trickle through, things have calmed down and they suddenly can't get on here :)

I'd actually argue that pound for pound and taking an overall perspective PC gaming is the best value for adult gaming and I miss my PC gaming in recent years. However if like me and have kids then Nintendo is ticking a lot of the boxes, and consoles are great for just switch on and go. No windows updates, graphics card drivers giving problems and all the other stuff you get with PC. Room for all the gaming options clearly.

The main thing is, it's a lot of cash for just one or two games. Don't get me wrong - the switch could be amazing and an absolute hit. But for the vast majority if you were getting an console the PS4/Xbox One (or PC if you already have something) is the wiser purchase. Quantity (as well as price recently) of decent games is killer.

I say this as someone who didn't buy a Wii U on the same principle. Do I want one? Yeah. But it's simply not worth the cash for a game or two.

Granted if all you play is Zelda or Mario (or other Nintendo relevant IP) and nothing else interests you then more power to you.

I'm not HUKD police but you're not 'The People's conscience' either. I'm just trying to put this in perspective. Can you find it lower than OP? No? Then it's currently the cheapest you can get it for. So it's a good deal.

If you want to be the gamer version of Uncle Phil, this is the wrong place to do that. There's tons of gaming blogs and websites to do that.

HOTUKDEALS. Get it?

No I don't "get it" at all. My vision of HUKD is completely different. If you just want bland price comparison, basic number crunching is far better done by computers than humans, as the vast sea of bland price comparison websites ably proves. If you just want to look at prices you would be far better going there. Real people aren't going to just robotically vote hot or cold based on your definition of a good deal or your ideas of how one should vote. They will of course be influenced by their own idea of good value (and yes everyone has prejudices, admitted or not) just as I am and you have zero authority to instruct people to do otherwise.

Also HUKD is just about as much, if not more so, about the community and discussions, the (mostly) friendly banter, sharing of knowledge, advice and jokes. If this kind of thing wasn't envisioned by the HUKD staff and mods there wouldn't even be a discussion forum for each deal it would just be an initial post and the prices. So I will use HUKD in the way I see fit, you can do the same, I really don’t see any issue….
