Been into my local store and they have signs all over saying that if you pre order the new DSi XL you can get it for half price if you trade in your current DSi.
The price they have for the full price is £159.99 so it should mean that you can pay £80 and give then your old DSi to get the new one.
I know this wont suit alot but someone might be interested.
There does not appear to be anything on the website yet that i can find and i notice just as a console the internet says £150 so the shop has added £10 on but seems OK to me if you are thinking of getting one.
Sorry no pictures or anything someone may have more details than me.

i rarely vote cold but i have to here. My son has had every DS and they are now ripping the A$$ out of it. For one, 160 quid is total MADNESS. There isn't enough in it to warrant a change. I'm not totally sure but i'm pretty sure dsi's are under a year old, so to trade it in and still pay £80(what they should be charging to begin with), seems terrible to me. Cheers for the post, i'm sure some people will go for it, but we're just being ripped off too much this time.

Yes i know what you mean i feel a bit cheated as it isnt long since the DSi's came out, they wanted to get smaller and now they want to get bigger. For me it will be good as its my sons birthday next month and thats what he wants so the price is OK but in other circumstances i wouldnt want to pay it. Strange colours as well no doubt two months after that they will have some nice colours. Just thought it might help someone. I was just going to put it in Misc but thought i might get told off and told to put it in deals.

i voted hot, its a good deal for alot of crap. you cant blame GAME. nintendo should be making new products- not playing off old ones.

you did right to post, thats what the site is all about, some will go for it, some won't. The guy there is right though, you can't blame game, kinda. Its nintendo's fault. Unfortunately in my wife and son's eyes nintendo can't do no wrong. I think its a disgrace they've had so many variations of the ds. This is the 4th off the top of my head. Thing is they all do the same thing. £160 too. They keep RAISING the price for old technology. Its madness.

We traded my sons DSI in Blockbusters today for £90 and i would imagine that the new one will be the same price or better i find game quite expensive

I walked past my local on sat and just started laughing at this.

All the DSI xl is, is a DSi with bigger screens. No more, no less.
Plus with a screen that size, surely the visuals will be **** seeing as they will look stretched and even more pixelated.

Sorry, but no thanks.

You'd get more for it on gumtree or fleabay

Somebody in nintendo marketing  was bored and said "I know....we will have a competition to see who can get the mug punters to spend more money for backward technology" and another marketing guy pipes up "Yeah AND you get extra points if you TELL them what they are buying is backward technology and THEN get them to pay twice what the old one was worth"!

:whistling:

DSi was the vista of the nintendo range

You know, if you want to keep on trading in your system and getting another version, then that's your problem, and not really Game's or Nintendo's.

Personally I skipped the DSi, because I -really- didn't think it was worth the money.
I guess that's different than -saying- you don't think it's wroth the money, but ranting afterwards that you didn't have the new features.
The DSi XL is more to my liking, I just find it overpriced.

About the deal, I don't think this is going to give you much more trade-in value, I'm guessing that the trade-in value for the DSi was around 80 quid anyway.

Oh and by the way, giving someone a DS is an insanely large birthday gift in my opinion. It's not like I condemn your actions or anything, it's just that I personally would feel better if my kid could be happy with something slightly smaller. I'm 20 years old, and when I was younger I didn't even get games, let alone whole systems. Now I'm not saying that kids now should go through the same thing, but come on, these things aren't cheap.

I managed to get the DSi XL totally free in advance of launch date..............

This is a rubbish deal. I sold my DSi for £100 and ordered a DS XL from ShopTo for £40. So £40, half the price of this deal.

And in 9 months you'll be able to do the exact same thing, but for Nintendo DSi XL Lite no doubt. I work in Blockbuster and am really appalled at the time frame in which Nintendo are pumping out DS "upgrades". Not voted either way.

I'm gutted that I bought my son dsi for £150 3 months ago, when it was out for merely 3 months and now they bring out another version.

I bought my dsi last April just after it came out from additions with a £50 off £100+ order so paid about £105 with P+P. If I hadn't got it I almost certainly would get the new dsi xl (especially as they're launching it on my birthday!) as the bigger screens were one of the things that appealed to me.
However to have to pay an extra £80 + my dsi (which I have several games downloaded on to and would like to keep) seems an unbelieveable rip off for screens that are a bit bigger still.
Also I would imagine it would make your hands quite uncomfortable if you were playing for any length of time, especially with something like lego rockband where you are using lots of the buttons together.

Yipee!!.........what a top post! I could not agree more. I think that expectations are far to high and they are only set by us parents. I just wonder how many parents twice your age would consider giving there child a whole day of undivided attention including playing any games they already have? (I am sure you would going by your post)

I am fed up with hearing "I don't know what to get him/her" Don't GET anything JUST GIVE your time.

Rant over

i don't know about anyone else but my kids get our time everyday, not just on their birthday. I guess it depends how much your kids value gifts. My son waited months for this. Its the only gift he got, and he plays it a LOT. Not because he doesn't get attention from us, but because he likes to challenge his mind at a lot of puzzling games. Everyone is different but my kids get 2 pretty big gifts per year, birthday and christmas. I don't think this is a lot. They don't get stuff willy nilly here and there throughout the year, and if they do they save their own money for it. I don't think its a problem as long a your kids realise the value of money. And not all parents buy their kids nice gifts to avoid spending time with them. I think its called having a good childhood and getting the things you like now and then.

Thanks McNally i cant believe some peoples comments. Like you my children get two nice presents each year, some years bigger than others. They are not spoilt in any way. The DSi was bought by my son so i would only be paying half for the upgrade which is what he is into. My other son is sports mad. I would also like to point out to the person who tried to insinuate that perhaps i dont spend time with my children that I made the decision 13 years ago to leave work to always be there for my sons. I still have not returned to work so that they always come home to me. I am lucky that my partner has a good job and agrees with this decision. We always put both boys first. They have a very happy life spending lots of quality time at home with us and are being brought up to work for what they get and respect other people. Thanks thats my rant over now.:p

well said goofy, it leaves me wondering if on there birthday you should "just spend time with them", how does that make it different from any other day? haha

It should be noted that the DSi XL is mainly aimed at elderly people who have difficulty reading the text on the screen. I have pre ordered a DSi XL from game using this offer but have been told the price is £150 not £160, I don't mind if it is £160 as I am still getting it cheap since my local blockbuster aren't taking pre orders for the console.

I am 24 yrs old but have difficulty reading some text on some games due to the small screens of the DS versions.

It should also be noted you do get 3 free software titles with a DSi XL so please stop complaining, why complain about the new Nintendo Handheld releases when Sony have released more versions of the PSP in a smaller time frame then Nintendo, if you don't believe that, PSP phat 2005, PSP 2000 2007, PSP 3000 2008 and PSP Go 2009, Nintendo have the DS 2004, DS Lite 2006, DSi 2009 and DSi XL 2010. As you can tell Nintendo generally release a new version every 2 years where as Sony generally released a new version every year.
