good find - can't decide if I'm going to pre-order though or just wait and see what the price is going to be elsewhere
#3
If it is being released at this price, then the only way is down IMO. I can't see a need for it to be honest, when other GPS solutions are so plentiful.

Good find. Saw the vid - Looks Great so ordered.

lol are you having a laugh!?

Is he having a laugh!?

This is dirt cheap for what it does, what other GPS solutions are you talking about?
#6
This is a bargain for people who already have psp but no navigation.

I may go for this.

I do have the Go!Explore (google is your friend :whistling:) and I can tell the map is very good the 3D landmarks is nice and the mapping is better than my MIO ! Only thing missing there is the cameras, Go!Explore do not point out cameras, but hey is only the first version...
About the price on the pre order, well if you guys search on ebay the cheapest you find there is around £50 and ONLY for the gps receiver !!

So if you have PSP go for that ! hot hot hot

DONT FORGET Quidco 5%

This looks quality, the next best sat nav I could find is over 50 quid dearer. Now all we need is a good cradle to put the PSP into in the car.

I found this for £2.65 + £1.52 shipping:

#10

My point is that the list price on HMV is 29.99. So how is a £2 saving that great? The RRP is hardly gonna go up is it?
#12
Hot for me, just shows there is much to be had from the psp ;-)
#13
I'm very tempted by this. Does anyone know if it would work OK in a car like a sat nav or is this device more for on foot type stuff.

Its aimed at both. But as its not touch screen it will be difficult to use when on the move.

Voted hot and ordered!
Thought that the Go Explore was going to cost much more... RRP €119 according to Sony

Hey I don't really know much about GPS, could someone please fill me in on whether you have to pay any kind of monthly subscription once you've bought this product or is this just the one off price for GPS?

I know I'm a complete dunce
banned#18
things you have to pay for with GPS is like traffic updates and stuff like that.

asking satellites where you are is free.... so the GO!explore is a one off price but later on you may want to get new maps and you will have to pay for those

(this one does come with a uk map)

been using this a few months now

got the gps unit from mother in law (wifes japanese ) retails in japan for about £25

found the beta of the software

works well has pedestrian car and taxi modes better than tom tom i had before

due to size of psp you do need a decent holder for car tried one of those std ones that claims to be suitable for psp which did not do the job

so got this cradle for car http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4365

great gps system love it

Very useful device. Voted hot.

Is this compatable with the original PSP or just the new Slim & Lite version? - read a report that the original didn't have enough memory for this GPS application. Anyone got this running on an original PSP?
#22
Excellent idea, will come in vey handy, 2 quid off is 2 quide off
Voted hot
#23
Are you sure the Quidco is 5%?

Will this be classed as a game (at 5%) or as a digital hardware/accessory at only 1%?
#24
I personally think HMV have totally screwed up their listing / price of it .... the RRP is about £110 ..... and, if you look at play.com, they are selling it for £110. I think HMV have listed the price for the software solus (so no GPS receiver) but I hope I am proved wrong.

But who knows - will find out next week I suppose :)

Nice to see hardward being developed for the PSP, but its going to be one large lump to have on the cars dash-board/windscreen. Still I have voted Hot
#26
I'd be surprised if it is available on the 25th of April there hasn't been any official news of its release.

I pre-ordered it from Amazon for £25.99 last month for despatch on the 25th of April.

*Yesterday it was advertised on Amazon for £90.*

*Today it is showing a release day of the 25th of July 2008 with no price.*

???
#27
Great find but I think I will also wait until it is officially released.
#28
Gone for this.
I've got a feeling its a site error but its worth a shot.

Fingers crossed!
#29
Like someone asked before; is this compatable with both phat and slim psp's?
#30
Voted Hot. :)
Never realised a PSP could be used as that.

If it has been released in Japan, does that mean there are maps of Tokyo available already?
#31
Play-Asia has the complete kit for £30.59, so HMV's price might not be that crazy?
#32
I don't use my PSP for much so I think I'd rather just sell it and get a pocket pc for £50 off ebay with GPS... Voted hot anyway, good deal.
#33
Hot and purchased - more reasons to use the PSP!

Tread carefully all, the Satelite lock capability quality of this unit is very poor
#35
Review looks fabulous.

Though I think it's a misprice that won't be honoured.
#36
I doubt this is a misprice as 100 pounds is way too much for a GPS receiver, people would be better off buying a sat nav by itself for that much. £30 sounds like a suitable price for this device as you require a PSP in order for it to work.
#37
Very good deal, way cheaper than buying a sat nav! Only other listed price is Game - £34.99!
#38
very good deal, been looking at these when they were released in Japan. Im guessing this would be compatible in other countries with map upgrades, would be awsome to take on holiday. Also i believe people have used this with other GPS software on custom firmware, possible integration into games aswell - do i remember something about it being used in metal gear solid?
#39
Excellent find.

Voted hot and rep given
