Stunning price. Great find Talkhan

Still overpriced for what is essentially a glorified expansion pack, especially if you have already paid out for halo 3 doc.

Just been reading up on it & it doesn't sound much like an expansion pack to me?!?

hummmm I can't decide. Sounds like it's gonna be good though. I've just started playing halo 3 again after getting a bit bored with Civ rev.
#12
A new campaign with new settings, graphics, charaters, style and story , a new horde style game mode and loads of multiplayer maps does not = an expansion pack imo

Don't forget your quidco on this too.

Not a bad price, i heard this was going to be sold for £39.99....

Agreed - The Halo franchise is the most over-rated in gaming history. :whistling:

They take the money straight away. I preordered Resi 5 months in advance (i had a online voucher to spend). They reduced the price by a further £10 a month or so later. So i phoned them and they said they wouldnt refund the difference until i had recieved the game (so its obviously a one way street!!!). I then phoned them when i recieved the game and they said they only send out vouchers, rather than credit back to by card. :x

... Because of this, i wouldnt be suprised if they tried to take the extra money if the price did go up.

Have to agree. Graphics wise its certainly not up to standards of he halo universe. First Halo game I actually gave up and left on the shelf. Nothing new or exciting. Maybe they realised this and now bringing out two new games.

After all just after they finished halo 3 they said that was it............
#23
Yes they take straight away but at least 13.00 pounds cheaper than play !!!

Ordered

I dont see why you should be flamed for this comment. It was very poor when compared to the previous Halo games. It was also far, far too short.

Whilst 3 lets it down big time the Halo series could hardly be called over rated. There are FPS games nowadays that are still trying to replicate the immediacy of the combat and the brilliance of the vehicle combat of Halo and failing miserably and its nine years old.

Great deal. Especially with recent news that they're going for a full on game in terms of content. Here's what's on the discs:

Disc 1
Halo 3: ODST Campaign (with 4 player online and offline co-op support)
FireFight (up to 4 player online and system link support; 2 players split screen)
Theater (everything you come to expect from Halo 3's Theater Mode)
Extras (where you'll access the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta when it launches next year)

Disc 2
Halo 3's complete MP experience (matchmaking, etc.)
Forge
Theater
Custom Games
ALL Maps released to date [24 in total] (Retail + Heroic + Legendary + Cold Storage + Mythic + ODST exclusive maps)
3 new exclusive MP maps (Heretic, Citadel and Longshore; see above)

Lots of folk like the Halo series, so I must be in a minority.

Don't get me wrong, it's certainly a competent shooter. But, I found the environments and enemies to be a bit bland and samey. Too many grey corridors, and done before beach sections.

I found multiplayer to be a tad irritating too, due to the personal shield regeneration.

i agree, my hubs is into more serious first person shooters, halos are just a bit of fun aren't they, mindless shooting... bring it on! apart from halo wars, that was dire! i like halo, he doesn't... doesn't mean it's pants... hey, we both don't like rpgs, but other ppl love em... like fallout 3, that was dire for us!
#31
right, have ordered it, i loved Halo 3, i just had in my mind they were just bringing out *****... a bit like the burnout series... they totally ruined it with paradise!
#32
Have ordered! Excellent price for a game I'm looking forward to most this year!

Heat & Reap applied

If Argos take the money straight away then I'm going to cancel my order, not happy with them having my £27 for the next 3 months with nothing to show for it on my part.

Shame :(

I've played all of them, was hooked on halo1.... I agree, Halo 3 was just the most noobified version of Halo they could ever make, Ive always said that it looks and feels like it was designed for 7yr olds...

The difference with OSDT is that Bungie did claim it was supposed to be darker and more gritty, very much similar to the Original Halo 1 experience. Now that Bungie is no longer owned by Microsoft they have a lot more freedom to do as they please.... eg. not having to noobify the experience, cut out blood/gore so that the game can be played by all audiences for maximum sales.

Of course, since ODST is using the same engine has Halo3 it could have a similar feel, hopefully not, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

All I'm waiting for is Halo Reach
#36
Does this support split-screen multi-player gaming?

Thanx

pre-ordered. great price. not bothered if argos charge straight away as long as they come up with the goods when ODST is released. can't see this being any cheaper on release day. it's worth it for the multiplayer disc alone IMO.

Anyone who think's Halo 3 was/is best suited to 7 year olds should actually try playing at the higher levels of the multiplayer. I'm a rank 46 (out of 50) and play in the Hardcore playlist (MLG, SWAT, Snipers) and it is some of the most challenging, and ultimately rewarding multiplayer available.

Perhaps folks should stick to the grenade spamming, spray and preying action of Call of Duty

Back on topic: great price for what is going to be one of the best (and most popular) games of 2009. Got mine ordered, so thanks OP.

This may have been mentioned before but... I understrood if they took your payment they were entering into a contract with you so wouldn't that mean they have to sell it you at this price?
